Sad to hear the passing of another 60s music icon from Small Faces/Faces. Always the mirror of the Mod look of those times, he carried on performing right to the end. Saw him at The Thunderbolt four or five years ago, only about 30 or 40 people there, just him and a bass player. He was playing for two nights at the pub. Couldn't believe how tiny he was. He was happy to talk to anyone during the break, great sense of humour, no ego at all. He said he couldn't do many Small Faces songs as "I can't sing like Steve Marriott", but did a moving version of Debris, the Ronnie Lane Faces number. Loved his playing on Tin Soldier, All or Nothing, Afterglow, and other great tracks. Never was able to see Small Faces, but saw him with a The Faces a few years back in a semi reunion at Albert Hall, minus Rod Stewart. He wrote a great autobiography, All the Rage, well worth a read.
