Maybe Arsenal will lend us Matt Macey. He has been on the bench for their Prem side.

Darrell has said: Mildenhall is out for up to 3 weeks, Puddy is no where near ready and that he wont throw Preston into the deep end yet. Therefore it will be a months loan until Mildenhall or Puddy is back available.

Playing devil’s advocate, should Rovers be allowed to sign a keeper on emergency loan bearing in mind they are unwilling to field Preston and knew that their back up was injured before the loan window closed?

I think they are allowed as Preston is a youth player and also 1 fit keeper at the club is special circumstances to allow an emergency loan. I could be wrong but I read something like this before.

Preston is not a first team pro, he's a 17 year old kid, i don't think there will be any problems getting a keeper in, i think the rules say if you are down to one fit keeper you can sign another one.

Macey and Andersen are regularly on the bench for Arsenal and Reading, so I doubt we'll get either. I'm not sure how fit Steve Phillips has kept himself, but it wouldn't be a bad shout if he has. that said, I doubt we'll bring in anyone with previous Rovers connections.

Absolutely brilliant thread this, just listing players with Rovers connections. Superb. We'll get a loanee from a club in the top two tiers of english football who will be around 19 years old.

My money is on Pipe or Lines with Ollie's autobiography as back-up on the bench.

Steve Book? Phil Kite? Andy Collett?
What are Martyn Margetson and Gavin Kelly up to these days?

I don't have any problem with having no goal keeper on the bench, you make a judgement as a manager as to the likelihood of needing one. The likelihood is pretty low and I have to say if a certain player had bothered to move to receive a forward pass instead of just standing looking at play there would have been no reason to have played the ball back to Mildenhall but I guess we can all be wise in hindsight

If we're going to go into who to blame, though, I wouldn't point the finger at any of the midfielders not coming towards the ball because any in-field pass at that point would have been a hospital ball. The player I would look at was indecisive in possession and allowed Wrexham to win the ball back.

Is Bob Wilson still signed?
Actually if we weren't allowed a loan we could still sign someone out of contract ..maybe asking a team to do without their goalkeeping coach for a bit would be an answer...-Antti Niemi, Dean Kiely, Carlo Nash or Shay Given on a non contract basis perhaps?
