Sorry guys, but if I may, this is my debut book written at the ripe old age of 77, and now published. It is part 1 of my memoirs, and as it only takes me up to 1945, there is little or no mention of Gas, as I was blissfully unaware of their very existence until my father returned from the war in late 1945. I would add that Part 2 will start with my making a written application to Rovers when I read they were seeking players when League Football recommenced. In typical Rovers fashion, I had no reply. However, as I was only 8 I will excuse them. Book is available on Amazon Paperback £6.50 Kindle less than £2. Selling quite well and a couple of five star reviews. Thanks and #UTG www.amazon.co.uk/Just-Bristol-Michael-John-Kelly/dp/1503020037/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417072952&sr=8-1&keywords=just+a+boy+from+bristol

Thanks guys. All the kind remarks are much appreciated. We are currently 61st in Amazon best selling Kindle memoirs, just ahead of Len Goodman. This first book only takes me up to 1945 and the end of the war. The sequel will be heavily Gas based as , at the end of the book, post war football resumes and my love affair with Gas begins.

That would be very interesting - not sure I've ever seen anything Rovers related from that era from the point of view of being a fan rather than club history or the memory of players etc. Anyone correct me on that?

I was 8 when the war ended and already a football fanatic, but completely unaware of the very existence of Bristol Rovers. My Dad was away at war and our football knowledge was restricted to old pre war books and grainy images on the Pathe Newsreels. It was only when war ended that the Evening Post started publishing adverts for players and offering trials. When my father entered my life in 1945 he turned out to be a Gas fanatic and had been there from Rover's first ever game in the League. The rest will be in my next book. Better hurry though because 77 is a bit late to have written my first book lol
