I notice on the Barnet website they have the 'Reckless guide to Bristol for Barnet fans making the trip tomorrow.
www.barnetfc.com/news/article/reckless-guide-to-bristol-rovers-2101586.aspx
It's a light hearted thing and quite well done, but it does try to perpetuate the myth that Rod Hull was 'one of ours'. I assume this all stems from the classic 'Singing Bristol Rovers All The Way' single of the 1970s ,for all you younger viewers out there wondering who Rod Hull was , he was the Ed Sheeran was the of his era, who had a massive hit with a song about his love for The Gas, who back then were still a 2nd division (the real second division mind) football league side with aspirations of well, just staying in the second division really.
Anyway, should we start trying to claim Rod Hull as a celebrity fan? I mean he isn't around to deny it, and it is a step up from Jeffrey Archer .

I always thought we did claim him as a fan.
He also dead the ultimate football fan death falling off his roof while adjusting the TV aerial during an England football match. He had a armchair football warriors death and is now in the football fan armchair Valhalla.
We salute you Rod, doing Black Power clenched hand salute with head slightly bowed turning to the north (I am from Somerset) towards Mendip transmitter TV mask.

Haven’t we always claimed him as one of ours, and definitely a step up from Archer.
I have seen on a couple of occasions the claim that one of Depeche Mode is supposed to be a Rovers fan

If the celebrity didn't make it into box 1 or got mentioned on GoD's Twitter feed maybe they cannot claim to be a celebrity fan, we all know how Geoff likes to name drop his celebrity friends.

Why would he do the song if he wasn't a fan?

Why would he do the song if he wasn't a fan? For the sheer glamour and street cred of being associated with our club?

I have seen on a couple of occasions the claim that one of Depeche Mode is supposed to be a Rovers fan Yeah I have heard the Depeche Mode one before, however I think it's probably a load of nonsense. What was the name of the punky band whose singer was from Winterbourne ( not Vice Squad), Wayne something? I'm sure he was Gas.

Jeffrey Archer probably claimed to support City as well. Sadly not, maybe we could swap him for Massive Attack? (they are welcome to John Cleese and Baldrick btw)

He was from Yate, his brother is definitely a Rovers fan but not sure that Wayne even likes football.
Edit: Just read on Wiki that he's a Learpaul fan like so many born and bred Bristolians sadly.
