Is Bob Wilson still registered? ... I did find it strange to hear Macca say on interview after the game that he didn't expect it; you'd have thought that in not naming a substitute goalkeeper there would be a plan in case your 'keeper gets injured during the game.
That's why I asked the question in the first place.
I've always felt that going in to a match without a goalkeeper on the bench was tempting fate somewhat.
Strange that because on Thursday night DC said Mansell would go in goal if needed.

Can we get Steve Phillips in as a temporary replacement as he is local? Two questions. Would Nantwich Town allow him to come here (presumably on loan), and would he want to come if they did agree?

We'd have to put in a seven day approach to talk to him, the club may wave that but those are the procedures. If a deal isn't struck in a 36 hour period of the approach then we won't be able to talk to him for another 21 days. Phillips isn't contacted at Shepton.

Guess it depends on how serious Mildenhall's injury is, between someone like Phillips and Preston we'd probably get away with it against Welling and Bath, if it's more serious we would have to get a 'proper' keeper in if Puddy isn't on his way back.

Thanks for that, but personally I'd be surprised to see BRFC go down the Steve Philips road, there must be several other keepers that are capable of filling the breach. But then again of course, we are discussing Rovers here . . . never rule anything out nor anything in is the watchword. Where's Conor Gough when you need him, eh?

DC has held his hand up to say it was a risk not having a standby keeper on the bench. With Puddy injured, I am surprised that we haven't had Kieron Preston on the bench as cover and for his own experience. However, last night proves the need to have a keeper that the team have confidence in - otherwise we end up protecting the keeper and being inhibited going forward. By this argument, we need to temporarily loan in a more experienced keeper IMO. There are plenty out there!
