First half was dreadful. One shot from each side - both dragged wide (ours by Matty Taylor). They played the better football. We were just looking to hoof it up to Blissett - a valid tactic, but not very entertaining/effective. We did look as if we might score from a set piece - but we didn't.
Second half was more open. Good goal by Blissett following good work down the left side. Second goal was comical. The ball sat down about 8 yards out while everyone danced around it (a gentleman's excuse me), until Tom laid his boot on it.
We then decided we had won the game and stopped playing. The goal that got them back into the game was a travesty. The ball went out for a throw in off their player. The lino correctly gave it as our throw. The referee (who was in a bad position to see) overruled him. Understandably, we were getting into position for our throw and out of position for their's. They took it quickly and scored.
How could I see all this from the Rovers end? Well - I was with my Chester-supporting family, and all this happened right in front of me.
They had the momentum now, and scored a good second goal (which they wouldn't have scored without the referee's poor decision on the first one) So - I'm feeling very frustrated that we didn't leave with 3 points.
That said - to some degree we got what we desreved. Overall, we weren't very good, except for the first 15 mins of the Second Half. Nothing here to suggest that we'll get into the play=offs.
Sinclair deservedly MOM - he was clearly our best player. No one else really stood out for me, although Blissett took his goal well and did cause them problems.

This was a strange day. I arrived at 2 o'clock and Gasheads were already queueing to get in. I thought our crowd was going to be massive but turned out not to be as big as I expected. The Gasheads seemed subdued today, not sure if it was the journey. Did get a lot louder in the second half after the goals.
First 20 minutes I thought the new tactic was Route One to Blissett. Chester played a very fast accurate passing game and we seemed stretched at times but their end product was lacking. Once we remembered we could pass the ball we came back into the game and at times produced some nice flows of play.
The second half was much as the Chester fans chanted "2-0 and you f***** it up". We scored two goals produced from some good passes with crosses from the left into the box. For some reason we then seem to fall apart for a while and for a brief spell it looked as if they would overrun us. However the defence settled and eventually kept Chester out producing a final good spell for us.
Having watched the Tranmere game Chester looked a better passing unit and if they have strength in depth could be thereabouts at the end of the season. The introduction of Blissett has unsettled the side but I am hopeful this will come good. He does look like Bambi on ice at times but still managed some good passes to his new colleagues. Pleased for him scoring as he won't have to worry yet about some Gasheads getting on his back..... The goals showed that if you get bodies in the box you are more likely to score and at times we failed to get people in the mix.
I thought Sinclair again stood out with Matty Taylor making some excellent runs with crosses producing the goals. Mansell covered a lot of ground and Della Verde produced some excellent crosses. Most of the others looked OK but McChrystal and Monkhouse unnerved me at times. Ellis produced some runs when he came on but didn't seem to make the impact he has made in recent forays. Goldberg nearly had an opportunity to score at the end but couldn't get over a cross and headed over the bar.
Disappointed about giving away the 2 points and slipping out of the play off spots but hopeful the signings will come good.

I've not heard DCs reaction yet ... can anyone confirm what he said please? The Chester forum has suggested that DC has not allowed our players to eat their post-match meal, but has sent it out to the Supporters' Lounge. Seems reasonable to me. After giving away a two goal lead starvation would seem to be a lenient punishment.

Pleased with a point , disappointed to throw away a two goal lead. Substitution of Della Verde turned the game , one for DC to think about as he got it completely wrong. Bringing on Gosling ahead of Balanta...is another very very poor call.... DC needs to look in the mirror tonight and think what should I have done differently. Yes not giving Balanta a run out seems an odd one,the circumstances when the LVD substitution was made would have been ideal for AB to get some much needed first team game time under his belt.Saying that though I think the manager may be regretting not naming a defender on the bench and having the option to shore things up at the back, did the same against Kidderminster but as we were chasing that game it didn't count against us on that occasion. Its an unnecessary risky tactic in my opinion if there was a defender fit for action of course.

And about time too. I have felt that we needed just one wee thing to kick us off. We have the squad and quality to be winning this bloody league. Fingers crossed we now have that belief to do the job. We need a good xmas build up and to be in the top 3 going into the new year. Hey, wouldn't it be a dream if we got promotion AND hit a confirmation of start date for UWE ?! I am actually dating to dream. It feels quite good. UTG F&ck me polak you posted that 2-0 strong , always the optimislt

Disappointing to lose a two goal lead but we played well today. Blisset and Taylor could be a good combination as they pulled Chester all over the place. Chester though we're probably one of the best sides I've seen this season. Played it on the ground and looked useful. Remember they had won there last 4 at home and unbeaten in 6. Need Trotman back McCrystal is to slow, shame Turley was an injury case, because somebody with a little speed in the middle would make heck of a difference. Sinclair his usual excellent self. Lockyer sound but wish he could learn to pass, plus gets a nosebleed if over the halfway line. Della Verde sub was a little strange, but panic defence was the reason we let in two. All in all a great game and good advert for the conference. We will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. Please dont use facts like they've won last 4 at home, or speak with knowledge of actually watching the game Many on here wont be able to cope with such frippery Could be because whenever we have a poor result someone posts some stat as an excuse such as Telford were improving or Alfreton are on a good run, the table now proves neither were. The fact remains if we carry on as we are we won't even make the Play Offs. Take away DC's it now seems flukey 5 match winning spell and we've been consistently poor under his leadership.

Topper Gas we were not Poor in any way yesterday and the only important statistic is that we are 6th with just 2 points off the top spot. It is very easy to pick various parts of the season and say "if we continue that we won't make the play offs. You could say if we "continue as the first three games we would be bottom by a mile". The fact is we haven't and you are giving no credit whatsoever for the fact that 6 out of our last 10 games have been away from home and when that happens it very much piles the pressure on the 4 home games. Remember as well that most of the teams we play will look upon the game as the chance to get a big scalp- a bit like playing a team from a higher division. OK I am looking at the statistics in a positive way but you are doing completely the opposite. Perhaps we should both be taking a mid point and realise that out of the last ten games we could have won them all and we could have lost them all, they have all been that close and can balance on one decision or missed chance or one error. The only important thing now is Tuesdays game, as if we win (and that is a big ask) then Saturdays draw will look a better result.

Yesterday's game was certainly full-blooded!
Did anyone else notice Lee Mansell doing three full-on sliding tackles?
In the last one, he launched himself so far away from the ball/player that (when he was in mid-flight) I thought he was certain to get a red card (by today's standards). But to his credit, he had timed the slide perfectly and crashed the ball away from the advancing Chester right back.

You won't see them tackles when the pitches "go plastic".

Stuart Sinclair 'got away' with a perfectly fair full-blooded two footer in the first half, which would probably have got a red in the Prem.

The big question is whether DC's got the ability to turn draws into victories as playing 6 away games out of 10 seems irrelevant, if anything, our away form lately has been more impressive than our home form. It really is crunch time this week for DC as if he fails to get a victory I can't see how he can remain our manager. Perhaps we have turned the corner and we'll win both games this week and we'll look back on this week as the launch pad to promotion.

After watching the highlights on YouTube your assessment of the 1st half is not correct. 6 attempts by Rovers on their goal and 2 by Chester. Not saying all of those moves were threatening but all could have led to goals.

However, they were so woefully inept that they hardly register on the scale of attempts.
Give our players some credit - surely if they were proper attempts they would have put some pace on them or got them remotely near the goal?
Surely those "efforts" can't have been intended to score a goal?

Sometimes things just come down to fine margins....one players scuffed shot is another players well hit shot, both intend to score

It'll be 2 wins from 12games if we don't win next week, I doubt if our form, in terms of victories, last season was ever as bad as that and we all know where we finished up last season.
Let's be honest if we can't beat Welling at home next Saturday who are we going to beat this year, as that the the easiest fixture by some way we have left in 2014.
