My take on a few things and why a need for calm is vital in what is about to be our most important stage of the season.
We currently sit 5th, a little way off the top but 3 points off second in the league. We are there having played 8 of the top 12. Before the season, there general feel on here was to go up at the first attempt would be a great achievement given historical probability. Well we are 20 games in and well and truly in the mix.
Those, will say we aren't playing well though. I agree but two things. Firstly, we have hardly played like Brazil for a number of years, we potentially have the relegation hangover, players adjusting to a new manager and entering a league well known for physically direct football. Hardly conducive to team of Robbie Carlos's popping up.
Secondly and most importantly, we aren't playing well and that is what excites me the most. We are 5th in the mix and we haven't even got going. Fergie's title winning sides always timed that winning run to perfection. Never peaked too soon but at the right time, the business end of the season.
Finally, those that still aren't convinced. Listen to DC's interviews. He recognises the issues that frustrate us fans. Alfreton was very much two points dropped. He is looking for that striker that we all need. Matt Tubbs & Jermaine Easter are two fantastic names to be realistically linked with.
It would be far easier to paper over some cracks but he doesn't he wants more. To quote "we do not want to be the nearly men, we won't be the nearly men"
I don't really know the intentions of the post, I guess just to get a few things off my chest and get my views out there.

Very well said, but the proof of the pudding will be whether we manage to sign someone with goal scoring record. I suspect if we don't do it this week then we have to wait until January. But I'm also mindful that we have been looking for this 'goal scoring' forward for some years. Even if we sign someone there are no guarantees he will click immediately and score goals.

I agree that DC gives the impression he is very well aware of where we're falling short. Happy to let him work on the problem
As far as expectations are concerned: I think by and large the fans are doing alright. Staying largely positive at the game but also demanding better. We should demand better, while recognising the reality of what we're dealing with.

Need to take a punt on a striker, from what I've seen this season the defense of most aren't up too much, if we can bring in a striker with some pace given the freedom to run at defense with positive tactics and also not have the supporters get on their back just because he hasn't scored with his first touch of the ball then we will be alright.

All well & good the big worry is our recent form as we seem to be getting worse rather than better, FGR we lost, Telford away we hardly deserved the win, Alfreton we were average at best, then on Saturday we scrapped a win, fans saying don't worry were probably saying the same at the tail end of last season.
DC needs to address the lack of goals soon or we will become the nearly men, and he may well become our ex-manager come the spring.
