Just caught the end of local TV just now about the mayor making an announcement about a stadium and it will be on Radio Bristol ??
Anybody else catch that or have i put 2 & 2 together and got 5 ??

I think that was about the Arena at Temple Meads.
Also, he's just the mayor.

They are going to put their preferred bidder forward (I think) Like you I caught a little bit of it. A 12,000 seater arena at Temple-Meads(believe it when I see it...)

They have shortlisted 5 architects after an RIBA competition. Those architects will now put together design proposals which will go on public display/consultation in January for a decision and planning application next March.
Some good players on said list too.

Higgs construction have bid to build it .... the bid is for £60m , after materials and labour they hope to make approx £30m .... should cover another building project in south glos!

It'll be built long before the UWE...... It's one of Ferguson's pet projects but he probably will be voted out before it goes ahead fully IMO. There is a 200 million vacuum in council monies, will a new Major see it as a priority ? Your guess is as good as mine

I don't know if it just me and the people that I speak to, but he has certainly made himself unpopular with rank and file Bristolians. It would probably have been better all round if he had declared at the outset that he was a Liberal, rather than standing as an Independent and introducing his liberal policies by stealth.
