I can never be bothered to click on links to the BEP since every time you do a load of adverts and videos and music and utter sh1te fill the entire screen making it totally impossible to read the utter sh1te you went there to read in the first place. It's not so bad in mobile mode

Evil Post implies today that the majority of councillors intend to vote next Wednesday against the planners recommendation to accept the proposal. Higgs will then IMO be completely *******, I guess that will also herald the end of his tenure at the helm of the good ship Box 1. Lets hope "I will get Rovers up this season" Dazzer Clarke actually delivers, or else we are well and truly knackered. UTG It implies it but as i understand it (possibly wrongly) that what the local councillors (Olly Mead definatly has) are actually doing is getting themselves out of having to vote ... their partys want a yes vote ... the individual wants a no and rather than upset his party and maybe locals they come out and say they are against it publically in advance , they then are not allowed to vote so another member of that party votes for the development instead.. Politcal party line towed and the individual can say to loacls that they werent allowed to vote! That's about right and the party whip will be used. I really loathe the post for stirring stuff up and getting peoe wound up but they did some good "work" for us before so I'll accept it as part & parcel of the game playing here

Correct - it is councillors getting themselves out of an awkward position whereby their ward interests clash with their party interests. I'm pretty confident this will pass but it is surely just the start of the battle not the end of it. Political will has never been the problem with this project.

It is good news - it keeps the dream alive. But I fail to see any particular reason to be dancing in the aisles here. Several times we have thought we were nearly there and they looked far more clear cut than this. All this seems to do is mean we are still in with a chance adnd what happens next will be complex, messy and most importantly long. I'm still struggling to see building happening imminently - that's the only thing that would have me celebrating. You're sounding untypically downbeat this afternoon, irish. Try to keep the faith, as I believe (and hope) that we will prevail eventually. Nothing in life is easy, particularly if you live in Bristol. But the final victory will taste very sweet indeed. I haven't felt optimistic about the UWE in a long time. Partly because of the numbers of times the process has stalled but mainly because I'm convinced that the strategy of UWE or bust is one of the main reasons we are in our current predicament. We have spent 15 years dreaming about the future instead of concentrating on the present and watched much smaller clubs that have focused on the present sail past us. My ultimate worry about the UWE is not that it doesn't get built but that the amount of contortions and deals and compromises that we have to make leaves us in an even worse state than when we started - and will leave the club even further distanced from the fans than it currently is. Rovers fans have been fixated with a 'home of our own' for a long time but I sometimes think that there are people out there who would be happy to see us drop down to the Southern League if it meant we got the UWE as if the stadium is what propels clubs up the leagues, when in reality it's competent management that does that. I support the stadium because I don't think I have much choice as a Gashead because the board appear to have mortgaged the entire future of the club on the project. But I'm not excited about it anymore.

I read elsewhere that if they vote against Rovers can appeal and will most likely win, is this true or pie in the sky ?

Not sure I understand your point? At each stage, letters of objection from people living in BS7 have far outweighed local support. So are you saying that the original application should have been declined on that basis? Not that it matters hugely, Sainsbury's have no intention of completing and it won't be built anyway. What don't you understand? The Post quoted a bloke who has no connection with Bristol. They might just as well has quoted my Auntie Doris who lives in Newquay! It is not a balanced article as the Post has only quoted people from one side of the argument. Is that too complicated for you? How is your Auntie Doris these days? still surfing in Newquay I guess

Something of more imeadiate concern to me is Jed Mcrory having a meeting with are board earlier this week! Saw a thread on this a while ago but didn't think anything of it.
But I now no for a fact he had a meeting here on Monday, I'm just hoping he's been knocked back!
Now is the time to make noise if we don't want him here....
