Carlos Alcaraz beats Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon men's title..By Jonathan Jurejko, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/ECA3/production/_130397506_alcaraz_flat_reuters.jpg Carlos AlcarazCarlos Alcaraz won the Wimbledon men's singles title for the first time by ending Novak Djokovic's recent dominance with a stunning victory. Spain's Alcaraz, 20, fought back from a nervy start to win 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 against the defending champion. Djokovic was going for a fifth straight win, an eighth men's triumph and a 24th major - all record-equalling feats. But the 36-year-old Serb was outlasted by top seed Alcaraz, who underlined his class by winning a second major title. "It is a dream come true for me," Alcaraz, who was playing in only his fourth grass-court tournament, said. "Even if I lost, I would have been proud of myself. To be able to play in these stages of these occasions - as a boy of 20 years old - is really fast. "I'm really proud of myself." ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/490/cpsprodpb/0E5F/production/_130397630_alcaraz.jpgCarlos with THAT trophy...Alcaraz, who won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open last year, celebrated by falling flat on his face after taking his first match point and kicking a ball into the crowd. The majority of a packed Centre Court, which included the Prince and Princess of Wales, actor Brad Pitt and two-time winner Andy Murray, rose to their feet to acclaim the All England Club's newest champion. As tradition now dictates, Alcaraz ran up the stairs from the court to his box and embraced coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, along with his family and friends. Alcaraz is the third youngest man to win the Wimbledon title in the Open era after 17-year-old Boris Becker in 1985 and 20-year-old Bjorn Borg in 1976. "You never like to lose matches like this but I guess when all the emotions are settled I have to still be very grateful," said 23-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic, who broke down in tears during his on-court speech. "I won many tough matches here. Maybe I have won a couple of finals I should have lost so maybe this is even-steven. "It is a tough one to swallow when you are so close. I lost to a better player, I have to congratulate him, and move on - stronger hopefully." The tears from Djokovic after the match were indicative of the physical and mental effort he puts into creating even more history. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/16/1e27e7c6-b062-4131-a8c9-7ddec80eb1c8.jpgNovak DjokovicThe defeat meant he was unable to equal Roger Federer's men's record of eight Wimbledon titles and Court's all-time record of 24 major wins. Djokovic also saw two mind-boggling runs - 34 successive match wins going back to 2017, and 45 straight victories on Centre Court stretching back to 2013 - ended by Alcaraz. Despite the disappointing manner of the loss, there was plenty to suggest the veteran is still well placed to at least equal Federer's and Court's tallies. His game, physicality and elasticity remain as good as ever. "I hope this will be the beginning of a rivalry for some time - for my sake," said Djokovic on the prospect of more duels with Alcaraz. "He's going to be on the tour for quite some time. I don't know how long I'll be around. "I hope we get to play at the US Open. I think it's good for the sport, one and two in the world facing each other in a five-hour, five-set thriller. "It couldn't be better for our sport." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/16/e25eb8dc-7528-4ad5-9d93-697551fe7f80.jpgCarlosichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/16/4025cc2c-749f-40c6-adcd-a7399cef9ca3.jpgNovak

I said before it would be so good to win but even if would have lost I would be really proud of myself. "Making history in this beautiful tournament, playing a final against a legend of the sport. It’s a dream come true. "It was unbelievable to play in these stages. It’s amazing for a boy – 20 years-old - I didn’t expect to reach this situation really fast. "I am really proud of myself, I am really proud for the team and the work we put in every day to be able to lift this. "After the first set I thought ‘Carlos, increase the level. Everyone would be disappointed’. "I have to congratulate Novak, it was amazing to play against him. You inspire me a lot. I started playing tennis watching you. Since I was born you were already winning tournaments. You said 36 is the new 26 and you make that happen. It’s amazing. More from Carlos Alcaraz, on playing in front of the king of Spain, King Felipe VI: "It’s really special. It’s special to play in front of royalty. King Felipe, I am really proud that you are here supporting me. When I played in front of you twice, twice I won, I hope you are coming more! It is really special and I have to thank you for coming and supporting." On learning to play on grass: “I fall in love with grass right now. It’s amazing. I didn’t expect to play in this level in a really short period. I have played just four tournaments on grass, I won Queen’s. It’s a dream come true. I am happy with the work we were doing, coming into the grass season. I learn really fast and I am really proud.” On being a member of All England Club: "It’s great to be a member here. It’s such an iconic club. It’s very special for me. I have to bring the card. I know Roger Federer had trouble getting in without the card! It’s really special to be a member of this amazing club, really iconic. I will come for sure." Let's hear from Novak Djokovic, talking to BBC Sport's Annabel Croft:"Good afternoon to everyone - not so good for me but good for Carlos. I have to start with praises to Carlos and his team. What a quality at the end of the match when you had to serve it out. You can up with some big plays in the big situation and you absolutely deserve it. Amazing. I thought I would have trouble with you only on clay and hard court, but not on grass but now it's a different story from this year obviously. Congrats, amazing way to adapt to the surface. You played maybe one or twice. Amazing, what you did in Queens and congratulations to everybody in your team. As for me, you never like to lose matches like these but I guess when all the emotions are settled I'll have to be very grateful. I won many tight and close matches in the past here, to name a few. 2019 against Roger. Maybe I should have lost a few finals that I won so maybe this is even stevens." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/16/0268ba33-1a57-4e6d-8c9a-a62174c0b49d.jpgKate and NovakHere's a little more from Novak Djokovic, who became emotional after addressing his son.First, on if he will still reflect positively on 2023 having reached yet another final following his victories at the Australian Open and French Open: "I will be tomorrow morning probably but today not so much. Tough one to swallow when you are so close. There are the moment that we work for every day to play on the biggest stages and biggest courts and most important tournaments in the world. I've been blessed with so many incredible matches throughout my career. I'm really grateful. I lost to a better player and I have to move on stronger. Asked to give a message to his team, he said: "It's nice to see my son still there, still smiling. I love you, thank you for supporting me and we can all have a big hug, and love each other. Thank you."

Kristofferson: I guess Djokovic can't escape Alcaraz. What a match. Best final in years. It's mad to think Alcaraz is only 20. Sukh: Oh. My. God. I can't believe what we've just seen. How quickly he's learned from only weeks ago losing at Roland Garros. He gets £2.1m for the win. He beat the best on grass in the modern game. Carlos Alcaraz will be a great champion for years to come. Ekemini: What a match! Congratulations Alcaraz. That was sheer determination and brilliance. Legend in the making! Jo: That was such an epic final! Well done Carlos!! Earlier PostsSukh: Serving for the championships. That's how he's got to do it. What a moment. Vamos Carlos! One point at a time Andrew: Now, let’s see what Carlos Alcaraz has between the ears Sukh Pabial: Never count Novak out. He has such incredible stamina and his returns are why he's the champion he is. John McEnerney: Big-time champions make big time plays when it matters. Top-level sport is all about pressure. Can you deal with it? Let’s see if Carlos can handle the pressure, we all know Novak can! Ben: I fear for Alcaraz if this goes to a fifth set. Djokovic has upped the ante with the aggression here, and there's nobody like him for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. ..................................................................................................................................................................... 'You have given us immense joy' - Nadal Rafael Nadal, Spain's 22-time Grand Slam champion, has tweeted to congratulate compatriot Carlos Alcaraz. The two-time Wimbledon champion said Alcaraz had given everyone "immense joy" and gives a nod to Manolo Santana (1966 champion) - the only other Spanish man to have lifted the trophy at the grass Slam. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/16/1a2d0dec-bd6a-46b0-af58-2a8868a0771b.png

Wimbledon 2023: Carlos Alcaraz beating Novak Djokovic has peak BBC audience of 11.3m..ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/29CC/production/_130400701_gettyimages-1548764914.jpgThe epic men's Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic had a peak audience of 11.3m on BBC One. It is the men's final's largest audience since Andy Murray's 2016 win over Milos Raonic to claim his second Wimbledon title hit a peak of 13.3m. The Alcaraz-Djokovic match was also streamed live 4.1m times on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport online. Spain's Alcaraz, 20, beat defending champion Djokovic in a thrilling five-set match on Centre Court. The BBC's overall coverage in 2023 set a new record for digital viewing figures, with the tournament streamed 54.3m times on iPlayer and online. BBC director of sport Barbara Slater said: "It's great to see that we have been able to meet the viewing demands of audiences, with significant increases in streaming of both the men's and women's finals, and a huge peak on BBC One on Sunday. "We are continually committed to bringing the very best coverage of Wimbledon to audiences across the UK, so I'm enormously proud that we have been able to do that once again this year." The partnership between the BBC and the All England Lawn Tennis Club is the longest in sports broadcasting, spanning more than 85 years on BBC TV and more than 95 years on BBC radio.

Wimbledon 2023: Novak Djokovic fined for smashing racquet in men's final..i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article30489932.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_Novak-Djokovic.jpgi.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/07/16/19/73274339-12304555-image-a-59_1689530659091.jpgNovak Djokovic has been fined $8,000 (£6,117) for smashing his racquet against the net post during the Wimbledon men's singles final. The incident occurred in the fifth set of his loss to Spain's Carlos Alcaraz when the 36-year-old Serb's serve was broken in the third game. Umpire Fergus Murphy immediately issued Djokovic a warning for a code violation for the transgression. **The money will be deducted from his runner-up cheque of £1.175m** (Made me have a great belly laugh, how will he cope with that deduction) Djokovic's frustration had built up in the decisive set of an enthralling contest on Sunday, having missed a simple chance at the net for a break to go 2-0 up. In the very next game Alcaraz backed up the hold by breaking the serve of the seven-time Wimbledon champion, which prompted the emotional outburst from Djokovic and brought boos from a section of the Centre Court crowd. World number one Alcaraz took full advantage of the break to seal a 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 victory after four hours and 42 minutes. The 20-year-old's victory at the All England Club denied Djokovic a 24th grand slam title.

Amarissa Toth 'extremely sorry' for behaviour towards Zhang Shuai..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2FA5/production/_130479121_shutterstock_editorial_14014336e.jpg The Budapest Open was Toth's WTA Tour main draw debut - she has a world ranking of 540Hungarian tennis player Amarissa Toth said she was "extremely sorry" for her behaviour towards China's Zhang Shuai at the Budapest Open. Toth, 20, was seen walking towards a contested ball marking and scuffing it out with her foot as Zhang spoke to the umpire. Zhang retired before completing the first set and left the court in tears. "I did not think that my first ever WTA main draw success of my career would cause such a storm," Toth said. "I am extremely sorry for what happened, I respect Zhang Shuai as a player and as a person. It was never my intention to disrespect, hurt or upset anybody. "I was acting in the heat of the match and got caught up by my emotions and the moment. I focused on tennis, I didn't want to win like that. "I hope that in the future I have the opportunity to sit down and talk with Zhang and tell her how badly I feel that our match ended this way." Zhang, a former world number two in doubles, retired while trailing 6-5 in the opening set. As she argued with the umpire on the line judge decision, Toth appeared to be laughing and the crowd booed. The incident received widespread condemnation from the tennis world. Subsequently, Toth was knocked out in straight sets by Ukraine's Kateryna Baindl in the last 16 on Thursday.

Vera Zvonareva: Russian tennis player blocked from entering Poland..

ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/2646/production/_130489790_gettyimages-1319773453.jpg VeraRussian tennis player Vera Zvonareva was blocked from entering Poland on Friday "for reasons of state security and public safety". The former world number two, 38, was on the list of players set to compete at the Warsaw Open, starting on Monday. But Poland's interior ministry said she is also on a list of people considered "undesirable" in the country. Poland has become one of Ukraine's staunchest allies since it was invaded by Russia in February 2022. The country has been refusing entry to people who support the actions of Russia and Belarus, however, Zvonareva had 'no war' written on her visor hat while playing at the Miami Open in March 2022. "The Border Guard prevented a Russian tennis player from entering Poland," read a statement by the Polish interior ministry on Saturday. "Vera Zvonareva, using a visa issued by France, tried to get into our country on a flight from Belgrade to Warsaw. "After arriving from Serbia, the tennis player stayed in the transit zone of Warsaw Chopin Airport and today, after 12:00, she flew to Podgorica (Montenegro)." The organisers of the Warsaw Open are yet to comment but the Women's Tennis Association said: "The WTA is aware of the situation involving Vera Zvonareva in Warsaw. "The safety and wellbeing of all players is a top priority of the WTA. Vera has departed Poland and we will be evaluating the issue further with the event." Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been supported by Belarus, which led to Russian and Belarusian athletes being banned from many sports. Wimbledon followed other Grand Slam events by lifting its ban for this year's tournament, "subject to competing as neutral athletes". Russian and Belarusian players continue to be asked about their stance on the war.

Emma Raducanu's agent defends coaching turnover..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/FABE/production/_130509146_gettyimages-1251953858.jpg Raducanu has played only 10 WTA matches this year and is now ranked 131 in the worldEmma Raducanu's agent has defended the player's approach after criticism of her turnover of coaches. The 20-year-old, who won the US Open aged 18 in 2021, has worked with five coaches in the past two years. IMG senior vice-president Max Eisenbud told The Tennis Podcast that the approach has worked for Raducanu and her father Ian. "It's probably going to be like that for the rest of her career. That's what's comfortable for them," he said. "I'm not saying it is right or wrong, but that is the way they have done it, and I think it is fine to do things differently." Raducanu started her career with Nigel Sears, who left shortly after she reached the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2021, before Andrew Richardson guided her to her famous victory at Flushing Meadows. Torben Beltz was appointed in November 2021 but left in April 2022. He was replaced by Dimitri Tursunov, who warned of "red flags" and potential problems if Raducanu continued to listen to too many voices. Last month she parted company with Sebastian Sachs. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/1446/production/_130509150_gettyimages-1473622480.jpgRaducanu had surgery in May on both wrists and an ankle and is not expected to play again until later this year. Eisenbud said changing coaches has been a successful method for Raducanu from her junior career. "Her dad and Emma control all the coaching stuff," he said. "All the way up through the juniors, they never had coaches a long time, so, for them, that's calm waters - having a coach for four to five months and then going on to someone else. "Emma and her dad have their own philosophy. Richard Williams (father of Venus and Serena) had his own philosophy, which was different, and Yuri Sharapova (father of Maria) had his. "We are not sitting in a sport that has a plethora of great coaches - maybe eight, nine or 10 great coaches. "Most of the great, great coaches don't want to travel for 35 or 40 weeks a year and leave their families, so you have a small pool that are willing to travel and charge very little money, so they keep getting recycled and recycled. That is why you see coaches hopping around." Eisenbud acknowledged that Raducanu may struggle to replace Sachs. "There are coaches who might be afraid to take the shot because they've seen the track record," he said. "I understand it is uncomfortable and doesn't fit in the box that everyone wants, but if Emma Raducanu's biggest issue is that she is changing coaches every couple of months, I will sign up for that." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/15176/production/_126809368_raducanu_getty.jpg

Watson, 31, defeated Belarusian Yuliya Hatouka in three sets, recovering from losing the second to win 6-2 5-7 6-1. The British number five will play her Belgian doubles partner Yanina Wickmayer in the last eight. However, British number two Burrage, 24, fell to a 6-4 6-1 defeat by Italian world number 108 Lucrezia Stefanini in Warsaw. Watson missed her first two match points when leading Hatouka 5-4 in the second set but produced a dominant finish after the Belarusian forced a deciding set. Burrage, who reached the second round at Wimbledon, lost eight games in a row after breaking for a 4-3 lead in the first set as the second quickly unravelled. Watson and Wickmayer face British pair Olivia Nicholls and Alicia Barnett in the second round of the women's doubles later on Thursday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/BD83/production/_130551584_gettyimages-1517139164.jpg

They denied Polish duo Weronika Falkowska and Katarzyna Piter from lifting the trophy in front of a home crowd after winning 6-4 6-4. Wickmayer had defeated Watson in the singles on Saturday, but the pair saved six of the seven break points they faced and converted three of their own to take the doubles title. It is Watson's fifth career WTA doubles triumph, while it is Wickmayer's fourth doubles title.

Emma Raducanu returns to practice court for first time since surgery..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/A5F1/production/_130618424_raducanu_gettytwo.jpg Emma Raducanu has not played on the WTA Tour since the Porsche Grand Prix in AprilBritain's Emma Raducanu has returned to the practice court for the first time since undergoing wrist and ankle surgery in May. The 20-year-old posted a video of herself hitting with compatriot Kyle Edmund at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton on Wednesday. "August 2nd, the fun part. First time back on court," she wrote on Instagram. Former world number 10 Raducanu has been hampered by injuries since her stunning US Open title win in 2021. Raducanu has not gone beyond the second round of any Grand Slam since becoming the first British woman in 44 years to win a major singles title. She had played just 10 matches in 2023, winning five, losing four and retiring from one, before having surgery on both wrists and left ankle. Raducanu missed the French Open and Wimbledon and is unlikely to be fit for the US Open, which begins on 28 August. She is also without a coach, having split with Sebastian Sachs in June. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/30C1/production/_130618421_raducanu_getty.jpg

Citi Open: Andy Murray beats Brandon Nakashima in second round..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/14E08/production/_130621558_e4f2b65d3a032e5d610c1cc034ac64a88e682f3b.jpg Three-time Grand Slam winner Murray was a finalist in the Washington event in 2006Andy Murray won his first singles match since Wimbledon by beating American Brandon Nakashima 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in the Citi Open second round. The 36-year-old Briton, who lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round at Wimbledon last month, received a first-round bye in Washington. Murray, 36, will play Taylor Fritz, who beat fellow American Zachary Svajda 6-3 6-3, in the last 16 on Thursday. "I did well. I hit the ball well from the beginning," said Scot Murray. "Brandon serves well, especially his second serve. I was struggling to create many opportunities on return. "But I was just a little bit more solid than him at the end of the tie-break. He made a few mistakes; I put enough balls back in play. "The courts and the balls are extremely slow here, so you're having to work really hard in all of the games. It's not easy to finish points. It was a good one to get through." British number two Dan Evans beat France's Gregoire Barrere 2-6 6-0 6-3, but Liam Brady lost 6-4 6-2 against the Netherlands' Tallon Griekspoor. Evans, 33, will face Russia's Alexander Shevchenko in the last 16. American Chris Eubanks, who reached the quarter-finals on his Wimbledon debut last month, beat Japan's Sho Shimabukuro 6-3 6-4 to set up a meeting with Australian Jordan Thompson. Norrie knocked out in Mexico British number one and world number 13 Cameron Norrie suffered a shock defeat by Aleksandar Kovacevic in the last 16 of the Los Cabos Open in Mexico. American Kovacevic, ranked 116 places below Norrie, won 5-7 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 in three hours. Norrie won his maiden ATP singles title at the Los Cabos Open in 2021 but has struggled since beating Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz to win the Rio Open in February.

Citi Open: Andy Murray's defeat to Taylor Fritz interrupted by climate protesters..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/0DC6/production/_130662530_gettyimages-1592639958.jpg Three-time Grand Slam winner Murray was a finalist at the event in Washington DC in 2006.Andy Murray's last-16 defeat to top seed Taylor Fritz was interrupted by climate protesters at the Citi Open in Washington DC. Play was halted for five minutes in the first set as three giant tennis balls were thrown on to the court. The protesters were then escorted from the stands before play resumed. Murray, 36, came from a break down to take the first set on a tie-break but Fritz fought back to win 6-7 (2-7) 6-3 6-4. Murray was playing in his first tournament since his second-round loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas at Wimbledon. American world number nine Fritz entered the tournament in good form after winning the Atlanta Open last week for his sixth ATP career title. Murray started their match slowly, smashing his racket after going a break down, but fought back to 5-5 before taking the first set on a tie-break. Fritz gained the upper hand to take the second set, before Murray had a chance to break for 4-2 in the third. But the American saved the break points, before breaking Murray's serve in the next game and going on to claim victory after three hours on court. In total, Fritz saved eight of nine Murray break points, including three in the final set. "I feel like when I'm down those break points, sometimes the opponent might feel some added pressure to it," said Fritz. "It's been feeling great because that's not always the case, so I'm really happy with how I've been playing these big points." Murray reflected on a close contest but indicated it was a painful defeat. "He's one of the better hard court players in the world. I certainly had my chances to win today. So that's a positive," Murray said. "But obviously you want to be getting through those matches. They were matches I have been used to winning. So it's frustrating right now."

Citi Open: GB's Dan Evans reaches first ATP 500 final with win over Grigor Dimitrov..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/C02C/production/_130669194_gettyimages-1595392186.jpg Dan Evans has a 2-0 record over his final opponent Tallon GriekspoorDan Evans is through to his first ATP 500 final after a straight-set victory over Grigor Dimitrov in Washington DC. The British number two beat the Bulgarian 6-3 7-6 (7-4) and will play Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in the final. He becomes the the first British player to reach the final in Washington since Andy Murray in 2006. The 33-year-old will hope to claim a second career title to add to the ATP 250 title he won in Melbourne in 2021. Evans said he felt tired in his semi-final after playing twice on Friday, defeating Russia's Alexander Shevchenko after rain had cancelled their match on Thursday before knocking out home favourite and second seed Frances Tiafoe. "It was so hard after yesterday putting in such a big effort," Evans said in his on-court interview. "Coming back today, it was really important for me to not roll over and have a bad performance. The last few months, that is what has happened a little bit." Dmitrov fired 24 winners to just nine from Evans, but the hard-hitting world number 20 came undone with 30 unforced errors. The ninth seed has returned to form this week, after defeats in his opening matches at Queen's Club, Wimbledon and the Atlanta Open. Meanwhile, 12th seed Griekspoor, who is chasing a third title of the season, came from a set down to beat American top seed Taylor Fritz 3-6 6-3 6-2 for his first win over a player in the world top 10. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/720C/production/_130669192_gettyimages-1595391622.jpg

Citi Open: Dan Evans beats Tallon Griekspoor to win first ATP 500 title..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/836F/production/_130674633_gettyimages-1597505747.jpg The Citi Open is only Dan Evans' second title on the ATP Tour after his Murray River Open triumph in 2021Britain's Dan Evans won the first ATP 500 title of his career by beating Tallon Griekspoor in the Citi Open final in Washington DC. Evans, now the world number 21, triumphed 7-5 6-3 against the Dutchman after a 90-minute rain stoppage. "To do the work I've done and to stick with it and come through is [amazing]," said Evans. British number two Evans, 33, required four break points to take the opening set, before play was suspended at 2-2 in the second because of rain and lightning. After the restart Evans cruised through his remaining service games until he saved four break points in the penultimate game of the match. "The last game sort of summed up my week. I got out of trouble and it was an amazing week," said Evans, who began the tournament on a seven-match losing streak. "I wasn't playing very well and I wasn't happy with my game." He is the first Briton to win the tournament since Tim Henman in 2003. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/5C5F/production/_130674632_dan_evans_getty.jpg
