Result - Game, set and match Medvedev - Medvedev wins 7-5 6-4 6-3 FeryAn instinctive sliced drop shot helps Arthur Fery save the first of those two match points but no such luck with the second as Daniil Medvedev seals an entertaining, hard-fought first-round win. Fery should feel proud, but Medvedev proves too good, Medvedev 7-5 6-4 6-3 Fery..Michael Emons, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.Third seed Daniil Medvedev advances but had to work hard to see off 20-year-old Arthur Fery, who will have gained a huge amount from the experience. Ranked 391st in the world, Fery took 12 games off the former world number one, breaking his serve a couple of times too in a great effort on Court One It was not to be for wildcard Fery today on his tournament debut, but what a prospect he looks and you'd expect to see him become a Wimbledon regular in the future. A standing ovation for both men at the end, with Fery getting a great reception as he headed off court, waving to all sides and with a thumbs up gesture. 'Fery has a very bright future'..Tim Henman, Former British number one on BBC TV.It’s a solid start from Medvedev. Any time you are winning in straight sets in the first round of a Grand Slam you are not complaining. Some very positive signs for Arthur Fery. It’s great to have a British player who has a very bright future. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/5/e743b54f-f1ee-4cce-b3f8-4b2e0751e9cf.jpg

Wimbledon 2023 results: Katie Boulter through v Daria Saville..By Jonathan Jurejko, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/118CD/production/_130158817_boulter_getty.jpgBritish number one Katie Boulter says it was a "shock to the system" to see a protestor run on to court during her win in the Wimbledon first round. Boulter was trailing 4-2 to Australia's Daria Saville in a first-set tie-break when the man came on to court 18. When the pair returned, Boulter took five straight points in the breaker and went on to win 7-6 (7-4) 6-2. Boulter, who won a maiden WTA title at Nottingham last month, started with a confident victory against 231th-ranked Saville, who is continuing her comeback from a serious knee injury. The pair began their match on Tuesday morning, were forced off when persistent rain set in, and eventually returned to finish more than 24 hours later. But the end only came after another delay - this time involving the Just Stop Oil protester, who threw confetti on to the court. After the protestor was dragged off court in Boulter and Saville's match, the players helped clear the orange confetti off the surface before the Briton took control of the tie-break when play resumed. Using that momentum, she improved further in the second set and won four of the final five games to reach the second round for the fourth time in five years. "I'm not really sure if the stoppage helped or not. Obviously I won a lot of points after that. It was a really tough moment for both of us," said Boulter. "I had to remind myself to focus, to keep in the moment and keep trying to keep my eye on the ball. "It was a really key moment for us." ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/CC4C/production/_130300325_boulter_celebration.jpg

Wimbledon 2023 results: Stefanos Tsitsipas braced for Andy Murray test..By Michael Emons, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/5/35eff970-d0e0-41c1-b21b-bd2163f8065b.jpgStefanos Tsitsipas beat Dominic Thiem in a five-set first-round Wimbledon epic to set up a Centre Court meeting with Britain's Andy Murray. The 24-year-old Greek won 3-6 7-6 (7-1) 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (10-8) in a match that lasted three hours 56 minutes. Andy Murray beat fellow Briton Ryan Peniston on Centre Court on Tuesday, one of only eight matches to be completed on day two. The 36-year-old home favourite would have therefore been pleased to see fifth seed Tsitsipas involved in a gruelling encounter with 2020 US Open champion Thiem, played out over two days on a packed Court Two. Stefanos Tsitsipas spoke to BBC One after his five-set win over Dominic Thiem: "It was pretty stressful, I won't lie. For a second I thought we were doing the repeat of Isner-Mahut. Dominic brings the best out of me. It was quite frustrating at the same time. This is tennis, you know. We put on a show and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Dominic is a tough competitor and I wish him all the best in the future." Playing singles, doubles and mixed: "Not in a million years did I think I'd be playing in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles. It's a pleasure to be doing this. Doing this with my brother is a dream come true. We've been dreaming of it since we were little kids. We come from a little suburban town in Athens, not much was given to us." Taking on Andy Murray in the second round: "I'm not expecting anyone supporting me. That's not my first rodeo! A few years ago when I was a kid I remember witnessing his first Wimbledon title. It was so difficult for him to close that last game. Every time I watch that last game, I feel shivers all over my body. I respect him so much. That court over there is almost like his living room. I hope I can play on Centre Court, the furthest I've played is Court One." Psst, I can let you into a secret, Stefanos - you're 3rd on Centre tomorrow.

"When I went to bed last night, I was having a think of what I'd say if I won the match, but now I'm here I don't know what to say. "I said to my mum this morning, she doesn't like watching, but I said I've already won £80,000 this week so she can chill out a bit." On Denis Shapovalov in third-round tie: "Denis is a mercurial talent, he's one of the best players in the world as is Casper. He's won junior Wimbledon. He's an amazing player. With a crowd like this then why not have a go again."

Marina: Time for "Late Night with Andy Murray." Andrew: The serving in that first set from both players, in particular during that crucial tiebreak, was exceptional. Tsitsipas was the man who executed better on the big points. Jo: I think it’s going to be a late night folks! Come on Andy! Andrew P: A world-class tiebreak performance from Andy Murray. He completely dominated Tsitsipas with the match on the line. Andrew N: This is a lot closer than I was expecting it to be! Benfides: Tsitsipas is a top-class player - I didn't think Murray still had this in him. Fair play, he's some competitor! Let's go Andy! Wimbledon 2023: Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek and Andy Murray play on day five..By Michael Emons, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7E2D/production/_130310323_djokovicandwawrinka.jpg Stan Wawrinka (right) beat Novak Djokovic in the 2016 US Open final, but says he has no chance of beating him at Wimbledon on FridayDefending champion Novak Djokovic says "it will be the duel of the veterans of the tour" when he faces old rival Stan Wawrinka at Wimbledon on Friday. Wawrinka, 38, has twice beaten Djokovic in Grand Slam finals but says he "doesn't really stand a chance". Andy Murray, 36, will finish his second-round match with 24-year-old fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, with the Briton leading by two sets to one. Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur and Cameron Norrie are also in action. One of the highlights of the day could well be the third-round meeting between three-time Grand Slam winner Wawrinka against 36-year-old Djokovic, who clinched his 23rd major at the French Open last month. Two of Wawrinka's Slams have come against Djokovic - the 2015 French Open final and the 2016 US Open final - and the Serb has not forgotten. Asked what role 88th-ranked Wawrinka has played in his career, a laughing Djokovic, 36, said: "Well, he took away two Grand Slams from me. "No, I like Stan a lot. He's a great person and really inspirational what he's doing at his age. He's almost 40 and he still keeps going strong, that's something not many people can do. "We can't forget he's a three-time Grand Slam champion, Davis Cup winner and also Olympic gold. He's had a fantastic career. "We haven't faced in quite some time. It will be the duel of the veterans of the tour." "There's zero opportunity to win Wimbledon for me," said Wawrinka. "It's an honour to play Novak here, I was missing that in my career - to play him in the Grand Slam in Wimbledon. "Hopefully I can make a competitive match, but if you look at recent results, I don't really stand a chance." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1671B/production/_130313919_8ef044d0-db61-4c76-ac1c-be17b29b8267.pngichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/13A93/production/_130313508_murray.jpgAndy Murray is aiming for his 200th win at a Grand Slam which would make him only the eighth man to achieve the featichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7487/production/_130313892_courtone.png

ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/11B11/production/_130256427_herogeneric3.jpgA historic day - It's fitting that Andy Murray should play on this date. It is a momentous one in British sporting history, after all. On 7th July 2013, Murray ended Britain's 77-year wait for a men's champion with a straight-set victory over world number one Novak Djokovic. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/7/2fcf95a0-524f-42ed-b5ad-e94de3abba3c.jpgAndy Murray with the trophyFantastic Friday - It’s one of those days where if you have a ticket for Centre Court you feel like you have won the lottery. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/7/954e84f0-e1f5-4e25-8f4c-afd42f928a5d.jpgYour experience of Andy Murray's first Wimbledon win..James, 30 - Surrey: I was watching the match at home with my mum. I had been hooked on seeing a first British Wimbledon winner since Fred Perry. I loved the lengthy Henman grinds and the Murray deep runs were always enthralling, but they always left me stressed. 2013 was no different... I ended up breaking my hand when Andy was serving for the championship. I was in a cast for 4 weeks... Lucy, 51 – Stourbridge: At home - with my eyes half closed! I couldn’t stop pacing between the garden and living room during the last game. I was convinced Novak was going to break Andy and that would be the end. Over the moon when he won - screamed like I’d won it myself! Wendy, 60 – Aberdeen: I was volunteering at the championships that year and had finished my shift so went on to Murray Mound to watch him. What a match! what an atmosphere! what a day! Very emotional and magical day. Count myself very lucky to have witnessed a piece of sporting history ! One of my most treasured memories! Lorraine, 77 – Lincolnshire: It was my birthday and the best birthday present ever. I was at home but I could barely watch and I kept getting tearful because I was so scared he wouldn't get over the line again and I worried how he would ever come to terms with another loss. I was petrified but when he won I couldn't stop crying with happiness and the next day I bought a copy of pretty much every newspaper. Sarah, 52 – Edinburgh: We were on holiday in Portugal with our kids, including my tennis mad 9 year old son. The villa had loads of different doors to access the outside. The last game with all of its deuces, was so unbearable to watch that we kept going out through one door and in through another, barely able to watch. When he finally won we all just ran out and leapt into the pool fully clothed! Ali, 18 – Derby: My memory of Andy Murray winning the Wimbledon had a massive impact on my desire to watch tennis and become a tennis player in the future. Andy Murray's Wimbledon triumph gave me and million of others inspiration to the same and also made us love the sport even more. It is one of the most biggest sporting moments in British sport history and I would like to thanks Andy for this. I was 9 years old when the match happened and at that time I was not that much of a fan of any player in tennis but after watching the match and realising what Murray did, made me his biggest fan. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/7/33dec097-fda2-4359-b5ec-ff8bc28d7c99.jpgAnother pic of Andy with the trophyAway from the show courts, there's plenty of other exciting matches to watch out for. Britain's , a winner against fourth seed Casper Ruud on Thursday, will be looking to reach the last 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time when he faces 26th seed Denis Shapovalov of Canada on court two. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/7/0c5e99a1-24b5-4462-a1f7-c03667b46d46.jpgLiam Broady

Perry won three successive Wimbledon tournaments - in 1934, 1935 and 1936 - and became the first player to win a career Grand Slam, also winning the Australian Open in 1934, the French Open in 1935 and the US Open in 1933, 1934 and 1936. Today is the 10th anniversary of Andy Murray’s first Wimbledon final win when he beat Novak Djokovic to become the first British man since Perry to lift the trophy. We could well see a statue of Murray appear around Centre Court after he has retired from the game. Your experience of Murray's first Wimbledon win..Rhoann, 64: Our daughter had got married on the 6th near Glasgow, so we were travelling back up the A9 to near inverness. We were listening on the radio and would lose the signal every now and then and then pick it up further up the road, waiting for the commentators to tell us the score. A more than usual nerve racking drive! Matt, 47 – Philippines: I was reporting on that very match from Abu Dhabi. The expat Brits - regardless of nation - went berserk. I cannot recall another moment like it. Jane, 44 – Birmingham: Absolutely gutted that my daughter had been invited to a classmate’s birthday party that afternoon so I had to follow the scores on my phone while ‘enjoying’ Coco the Clown. I decided not to record the match as I was convinced it would go the distance in a five-set thriller and I would therefore be home in plenty of time to watch the end. How wrong I was! We listened to the closing points on the radio while driving home and arrived home just in time to see Andy lift the trophy! I cried when he lost in the final the previous year and cried again when he won, though tears of joy this time. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/7/b7e148ce-66a0-436e-a03e-b2ef4abc767f.jpgAndy talking to our Sue

Where does Andy Murray get his drive from? Only he knows. He is in the sort of position against Stefanos Tsitsipas where he could feasibly knock out the world number five. We all know if you take out a top seed early on in a championships, it does make your pathway a little clearer in subsequent rounds. He told me in late April he believed he could be competitive for the Wimbledon title. The view from the hill..ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/7/4c164429-db7c-4d78-8783-fce1e50c3506.jpgHenman Hill is already crazy busy and later on there won’t be a single blade of grass free. A perfect spot for a picnic, food, drinks, sun and tennis. The huge screens are able to show two matches at once.

Wimbledon 2023 results: Andy Murray loses to Stefanos Tsitsipas..By Jonathan Jurejko, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/156A9/production/_130312778_andy_murray_getty.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/FFD0/production/_130288456_murray.jpgAndy Murray's hopes of a fine Wimbledon victory on the 10th anniversary of his 2013 title win were ended by fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in round two. Stalled by Wimbledon's 11pm curfew on Thursday, the Briton lost 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (2-7) 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 on Friday. Murray is a two-time champion at Wimbledon, having also won in 2016, and had talked positively about his chances of going deep in the draw. A poor performance at Queen's in the build-up to the tournament saw him miss out on a seeding, leaving him vulnerable to a tough test early on. Even after the draw threw up the possibility of facing 24-year-old Tsitsipas, Murray insisted he had the ability and nous to cause anybody problems on the SW19 grass. Against one of the top players in the men's game, he was proven correct. On Thursday, Murray grew into a contest played indoors under the floodlights and moved ahead just before the match was halted at 22:39 BST. Unlike the other Grand Slams, Wimbledon has a 23:00 curfew which has been imposed by the local council. The end of the set felt like the natural moment to pause, coming at a time which seemed to suit both players. When they returned, now playing outdoors on a hot summer afternoon, the pair continued to dominate on serve. However, at 4-4 15-30, Murray missed a chance to challenge a line call which would have been successfully overturned and could have altered the trajectory of the match. There was a sense of inevitability that the set would go to the tie-break and, when it did, Tsitsipas kept his composure to clinically level. Underneath bright skies, the mood further darkened among the home fans at the start of the decider. Murray's serve came under severe pressure in the third game. A slice into the net by the Scot was followed by a beautifully-judged lob from Tsitsipas, before a double fault created three break opportunities. Murray was able to save two of them, but a forehand into the net handed over an advantage from which he could not recover. The level of performance Tsitsipas was forced to find in order to advance - and register by far his best win of the grass-court season on a tricky surface - was testament to Murray's challenge. Murray waved goodbye as he received a standing ovation from Centre Court and, though he knows there will not be many opportunities to play there again in the future, he showed he is far from done. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/55AB/production/_130313912_murray_fumes.jpg

Wimbledon 2023 results: Andy Murray struggling for motivation after second-round exit..By Jonathan Jurejko, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/1D76/production/_130324570_murray.jpg Andy waving goodbye to the crowd on centre courtWhenever Andy Murray waves goodbye to Centre Court these days, nobody can confidently predict if it will be the last time or not. In the hours after another disheartening defeat at Wimbledon, even the 36-year-old was unsure. At the start of the 10th anniversary of Murray's iconic first title at the All England Club, when he ended Britain's 77-year wait for a men's singles champion, there was hope. The hope was that he could complete a memorable win over Greek fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and earn his most notable victory at a Grand Slam since having career-saving hip surgery in 2019. By the end, the former world number one questioned whether all the effort, pain and sacrifice of trying to go deep at Wimbledon is worth repeating. Asked if he was confident of returning next year, Murray said: "I don't know. Motivation is obviously a big thing. "Continuing having early losses in tournaments like this doesn't necessarily help with that." Murray cut a forlorn figure as he spoke to journalists, looking incredibly downbeat as he dissected his five-set defeat by 24-year-old Tsitsipas. The scene was nothing new. Revealing raw emotion after difficult defeats at the place where he puts the greatest emphasis on winning has been common in the past few years. In 2021, Murray said he needed to weigh up "if all the hard work is worth it" after an encouraging run was ended by Canada's Denis Shapovalov in the third round. In 2022, an equally-despondent Murray also questioned his future after suffering his earliest exit at Wimbledon at the hands of American John Isner in the second round. This year, for all the bullish talk in the build-up, the tournament ended with the same result. "Losing in the second round, I don't find that motivating, it's not why I put all of the work in," Murray said. "It's similar to last year, I guess. I had a long think about things, spoke to my family, and decided to keep on going. "I'm unbelievably disappointed and upset now. Maybe I will feel different in a few days but right now it doesn't feel good." This summer, Murray has channelled all his efforts into a deep run at the place where he has won two of his three major titles. That is what makes the disappointment even harder to take. Murray decided to skip the clay-court French Open, preferring instead to start his preparations on the British grass on which he thrives. Dropping down to the ATP Challenger Tour - the level below the main tour - led to title wins in Surbiton and Nottingham. Murray suffered a chastening defeat against Alex de Minaur when he made the step up in class at Queen's. No panic, he insisted. But, crucially, it meant he missed out on a seeding and left him open to the prospect of facing one of the highest-ranked players in the first two rounds. The draw threw up a potential second-round match against Tsitsipas, a two-time major finalist tipped to win one of the sport's biggest prizes sooner rather than later. When that highly anticipated meeting panned out, Murray stepped up to the occasion - as he regularly does on the big stage - and showed glimpses of his best. It was testament to his performance that Tsitsipas had to produce his best display on grass in a long time to pull through. Not even that could soften the blow for Murray, who knows he can still mix it with the world's best. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/D4AC/production/_130244445_murray.jpg"I certainly can. It's clear based on how the match went. There was only a few points in it," he said. "But it's not just about winning the odd match against them really. To have a run at these tournaments, you need multiple, multiple wins in a row. I've not done that." Murray is not the type of player to rush into any major decisions and his love for the game is evident by the depths from which he has recovered to continue playing. Tim Henman, Murray's former Davis Cup team-mate and long-time friend, believes the Scot will reflect more positively when "the dust is settled". "Andy has got a wise head on slightly older shoulders now and he is absolutely right not to commit to anything," he said. "He will reflect on how much effort he has put in this year. He dropped down levels to play in Challenger events and to win two on grass. That emphasises the hunger and desire. "That desire still burns bright and I really hope there is more to come for Andy."

Wimbledon 2023: Katie Boulter faces Elena Rybakina for a 4th round place..Britain's Katie Boulter will face the biggest challenge of her Wimbledon so far when she plays defending champion Elena Rybakina on Saturday. Boulter faces the Kazakh third seed in the third match on Centre Court - the same stage where she stunned 2021 finalist Karolina Pliskova last year. Anne Keothavong, Boulter's Billie Jean King Cup captain, believes Rybakina "has looked vulnerable at times". "I think this is a good time for Katie to play against her," she said. "Rybakina hasn't really come into this year's Championships playing lots of tennis. "She has looked vulnerable at times and, if you were in Rybakina's shoes, you're up against a British number one who is popular and will have the majority of that crowd supporting her. "It is a situation I don't think Rybakina has found herself in too often." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/4F6C/production/_130323302_cc.pngBoulter has enjoyed a fine grass-court season, winning her maiden WTA Tour title at Nottingham in the build-up to Wimbledon and showing superb focus to reach the third round here. A big hitter, with an aggressive game built around her forehand, Boulter is a popular player with the home fans and is the only Briton left in either singles draw following the exits of Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie and Liam Broady on Friday. Boulter claimed an emotional victory over former world number one Pliskova on Centre Court last year and is aiming to channel those memories against Rybakina. "I think I've got the whole entire thing in my memory, to be honest with you," Boulter said. "I still think about the time that I served it out. That's something that I draw on. "I'm already excited to play against a top player and have a go. I think they're the moments I get excited for." Rybakina has had a shaky start to her title defence, having to fight back from a set down in her opener and looking unsure at times in her second-round win over Alize Cornet. A more subdued figure on court than Boulter, the Australian Open runner-up is not worried about the home-crowd support her opponent will receive. "The crowd won't be supporting me that much. I'm sure it's going to be good," she added. "She's a tough player and her game is aggressive. It's going to be tough one." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/767C/production/_130323303_co.png

Wimbledon 2023 results: Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur win first mixed doubles match..By Jess Anderson, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/139D6/production/_130324308_gettyimages-1522963303-1.jpgBritish number one Katie Boulter and her Australian boyfriend Alex de Minaur teamed up at Wimbledon to win their first match together in the mixed doubles. The couple beat Australian duo Storm Hunter and John Peers 6-2 6-4. It was Boulter who had suggested the 'Boulternaur' partnership, saying they had "nothing to lose" by teaming up. Britain's Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram suffered a shock first-round exit in the men's draw. The third seeds, who have won three Grand Slam titles together, lost 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 6-4 to Dutch pair Bart Stevens and Tallon Griekspoor. When the draw for the mixed doubles was announced on Wednesday the pairing of Boulter and De Minaur immediately caught the eye, with Boulter saying they would "enjoy and cherish" the occasion. The couple have attended each other's singles matches all week, with Boulter set to face defending champion Elena Rybakina on Saturday and De Minaur's campaign ending on Friday against Italian Matteo Berrettini. But the Queen's finalist seemed to have put that behind him as the pair laughed and joked en route to their opening round win, despite Boulter quipping beforehand that it would "test the relationship". "It's something we've both wanted to do for quite some time. It's not often that you get to have that experience together, especially at Wimbledon," said Boulter. "It's a totally different vibe going on court with him. I think we bring the best out of each other, in terms of tennis, on and off the court."

Wimbledon 2023 results: Katie Boulter loses to Elena Rybakina..By Jonathan Jurejko, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/5/f48fc975-34ce-4277-9e31-cd64269a9c1a.jpgKatie Boulter's bid to reach the Wimbledon last 16 for the first time ended quickly as she was outclassed by defending champion Elena Rybakina. The British number one was the final home player left in the singles draws, but lost 6-1 6-1 in just 57 minutes. Kazakhstan's Rybakina, seeded third, showed why she is heavily tipped to retain her title in a powerful display. The 24-year-old dominated with her first serve and broke Boulter five times to move into the fourth round. Rybakina, who had faced question marks about her level after recently being debilitated by a virus, will face Brazilian 13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia for a place in the quarter-finals. It was a difficult defeat for 26-year-old Boulter to digest and she looked dejected as she gave a muted thanks to the Centre Court crowd for their support when she departed. When the dust settles, she will reflect on an encouraging British grass-court season which she hopes will be the springboard to greater consistency across the tour. "I have to pick myself up and look at the positives," said Boulter, who was aiming to reach the last 16 of a major for the first time. "I'm sure it's going to be a tough night but I'm going to sit here tomorrow morning and tell you that I'm at a career-high ranking, I've had some seriously positive weeks. "I've come off the back of five long weeks with no injuries, no issues. "They're the things I'm going to be focusing on and really pushing forward on the rest of the year." ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/B9B6/production/_130324574_boulter_face.jpg

Wimbledon 2023 results: Jamie Murray enjoys two doubles wins in a day..By Jess Anderson, BBC Sport at Wimbledon.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/521F/production/_130332012_gettyimages-1527721396.jpg Jamie Murray and Michael VenusJamie Murray doubled up with a pair of hard-fought wins at Wimbledon on Sunday alongside partners Michael Venus and Taylor Townsend. Murray and Venus, the men's doubles 13th seeds, beat Austrians Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 to reach the third round. Hours later, Murray and Townsend edged a thrilling second-set tie-break to beat Nicole Melichar and Jan Zielinski 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (15-13) in the first round of the mixed. Murray and New Zealander Venus are in pursuit of a first Grand Slam title having teamed up at the start of the year. After winning tournaments in Dallas, Banja Luka and Geneva they are yet to replicate that success in a Grand Slam, suffering early exits at the Australian Open and French Open. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1638F/production/_130332019_gettyimages-1528444374.jpgMurray and Townsend have played together in two other Grand Slam tournamentsAgainst the Austrian pair on the Wimbledon grass, Murray and Venus were boosted by the backing of the Briton's home crowd but struggled to make an impact on their opponents' serve with two of the three sets ending in a tie-break. They finally found the pivotal moment with an emphatic break to love in the eighth game of the deciding set, roaring at each other in delight before holding to love to seal victory. Murray reached the men's doubles final at SW19 in 2015 with John Peers, and Venus got to the same stage with Raven Klaasen in 2018, but neither lifted the trophy. Over a distinguished career, 37-year-old Murray has won seven Grand Slam titles - two in men's doubles alongside Bruno Soares and five in mixed. Murray teamed up with American Townsend for the 2023 Australian and French Opens, reaching the quarter-final and second round respectively. The pair took a dominant first-set lead against Melichar and Zielinski but had to overcome a mammoth tie-break in the second as both teams kept each other in touching distance. Townsend's powerful serving and Murray's nifty net-play complemented each other and the duo lapped up the crowd's appreciation after setting up a last-16 tie against Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk and Salvadorian Marcelo Arevalo.

Svitolina had said beforehand that, in line with what she and other Ukrainians have done since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, there would be no handshake. Azarenka, who wore dark glasses to her news conference, said "it wasn't fair" she had been booed when she had been "respectful" over Svitolina's decision. "What should I have done? Stayed and waited?" she asked reporters. Svitolina won the match 2-6 6-4 7-6 (11-9) to reach the quarter-finals.
