I disagree. If we want to sell more kit we need to target impulse buyers and that will only happen if the items are right in front of you when you're out shopping. How many times has a wife/partner arrived home with bag falls of clothes and prevented a argument by bringing out the single item she has bought for you. Would't it be better for the club if that item had a BRFC logo rather than Lacoste/adidas etc.

It depends if it's linked to a charity. If it is, here's a picture of the possible customers: The most difficult challenge is to get Gas merchandise into every supermarket and sports shop in Bristol with a selection of colours and designs. Despite my protestations about Sports Direct not having any kit from either Bristol club, it makes more sense to exclusively distribute from club outlets for a club of Rovers size, to maximise the revenue and margin. With the exception being the few local independents like Doug Hillard sports (I'll admit - living nowhere near Fishponds, I don't know if this still exists). Yes the shop is still there, and seems to be thriving if appearances are anything to go by. I believe that at the time of Doug's death, the shop was taken over by his son, but I don't know if that is still the case. Funnily enough Doug Hillard Sports is only a few yards from The Golden Lion, where Geoff Bradford was once the landlord.

Firstly, we should be taking the product to potential punters, not expecting them to make the effort and come to us. Secondly, it should be about getting the brand 'out there' - it's a very distinctive branding, and just for the shirts to be hanging in shops would act as publicity for an organisation which otherwise is fast slipping from people's consciousness or thoughts about what to do on a Saturday. They should be evangelising the club and bringing people in, even if only for the odd game, rather than depending on the (tested) loyalty of the hard core and this would be part of that. They might get £5 less by letting someone else sell the shirt, but they'd probably sell far more than making people schlep to Two Mile Hill for service with a sneer, and remind people that the club still exists and get impulse buys to boot.

Poll Results are in. As the same question was polled on gaschat.org I have aggregated the results, but for those interested the results were very nearly identical on both of the fora.
In answer to the question: Would you buy the yellow 3rd shirt if it was available?
Total votes cast 65
Yes: 23 (35.4%) No: 42 (64.6%)
Compared with the previous poll on the 1883 branded polo shirt. Less people voted (65 vs 96) and the general response was less favourable (35% vs 59%) with an indication that they would/might purchase.
