I'm in Egypt trying to find ways of watching England in 20 minutes, anybody know if it's possible to watch it on Al Jazeera? Or any streamed link I could try via wifi? Kind regards

Not much of a game was it? Even when Estonia were down to 10 men they still seemed to have more men on the pitch than England, although it's true that they were all mostly behind the ball most of the time. But the acid test is how many times was their goalkeeper troubled? Not too often in my opinion, and if he had been a couple of paces across his goal, then he would have saved the free kick that went in. And while we're on the subject, why can't I warm to Wayne Rooney? Now it's undeniable that barring serious injury he will very soon be England's most capped player, and similarly will also be England's top goalscorer of all time. But when you mention Peter Shilton or Bobby Charlton in the same breath as our Wayne, then for me there is sadly no comparison either in terms of performance or persona. I would imagine that (despite everything ) he is well on the way to becoming Sir Wayne Rooney, which will inevitably become Lord Rooney of Wazza in time.

Rooney has now become IMO the most overated player ever to play for England and even more embarrassing is that a player of very limited ability can get 50 caps ie Milner. When I think back to players who were lucky to get 10 caps and neither Milner or Rooney are fit to clean their boots! Just my opinion!!

Regarding Milner, every side needs a Milner type to be successfull, one who will work hard,do the dirty jobs and let the girlies get the credit .If he is as bad as you think then why is he still at MAN CIty and not Darlington? Its because his manager realises what he brings to the team. The same applies to Rooney, albeit not a natural goalscorer a la Lineker he still scores important goals. It is impossible to compare players of different eras,as Jimmy Greaves has said more than once and how can you tell how Charlton would have fitted into the modern game where fitness is all important, and was Shilton as good as Banks, impossible comparisions

I was referring to representing England not their club sides. As regards comparing players of different eras I agree they are different however I am sure that players who played in the 60s /70s were very fit but would obviously have been even fitter these days. The fitness is far easier to obtain than the natural skills that players had years ago and anyway I blame the Premiership for destroying the standard of our national team.

And it's a relatively easy comparison to make, subject to opinion of course, as they didn't play in different eras. Peter Shilton was an excellent goalkeeper, there's no doubt about that at all, and was a first-class servant to both his club and the national team, and if Gordon Banks hadn't immediately preceded him then no comparison would be possible. But Banks did precede Shilton and, as football is quite a lot about opinions, then in my opinion Gordon Banks was a better goalkeeper than Peter Shilton. Simples. But mind you, Gordon Banks played in an England team that was relatively successful, whereas Peter Shilton played in an England team that was not so relatively successful.

Who is going to be the first pundit on tele to say that actually, Rooney is nowhere near International standard? How many times do you hear the phrase, 'undoubted ability' when a pundit refers to Rooney? He is s**te for England. 300k a week and the guy cannot even control a Scalextric car yet alone a football !

Straight to the point as ever, eh Nobby. Oh how I miss the old Alternative Forum, well at least most of it anyway. By the way I do agree with you regarding our old friend Wayne Rooney (the proverbial waste of space), who even abuses his own fans when it suits him.

No point beating about the bush !
In the last two games against very modest opposition, Rooney has had three one-on-one's with the keeper, and failed every time. In my opinion, England would function much better as a team without him.
