Well done Rovers, 9 games unbeaten, an excellent run were on. When was the last time we went 10 unbeaten? Does anyone know? I think it's 20 odd years for 9.

Season 1973/74 we went 25 games undefeated so a VERY long way to go.
We went 27 league games undefeated from the start of the season, with just a defeat in the League Cup and FA Cup during that run.

Not so much a long way to go as physically impossible to break those records.
We're currently 0 League games unbeaten and will be for some time.

I wonder what our old Southern League unbeaten record was? Perhaps we can aim for that?
edit: best I can find is 9 in 1904/05, and we won the championship that year....

Blimey. It's still league matches. The Conference is a league. It's just not called the Football League. When people talk about league games, they generally mean the scheduled, play everyone twice, home and away, and see who's top at the end, type matches (ie not cup matches and friendlies).

No they don't. When 'people' are talking about League football and League records, they mean the Football League, and probably the Premier League.
They don't mean the Bristol and Wessex League, the Downs League, the Western League, the Isthmian League or the Football Conference. Thats why it's called non-league football.

That's my take on it too. We are in league competing with teams of a (mainly) similar standard, so any unbeaten run has it's merits.

Of course being nine games unbeaten is wonderful.
If we were to somehow extend the run to 28, or 29 games, that would be even better.
But it wouldn't break or extend the record set in 73/74. That's a League record and we're currently ineligible to compete in that.

If you're writing about football records, you've got to be able to distinguish cup games and friendlies from the series of pre-scheduled home and away games that are commonly called "league games".
I suggest the use of lower case "l" to indicate we're talking about any league: Football League, Conference Premier, Downs League, Commercial Friendly League (or whatever league).
Use of the upper case "L" for "League" or "the League" implies "The Football League".
The previous posts were fine under that convention, as they referred to our unbeaten performance in league games (with lower case "l"), implying "any league".
