Good interview by DC on radio Bris just now. He mentioned the mower at Aldershot FC is not working and is concerned at the long grass. Plus a mention of Tom Parkes being not too happy travelling to Turkey after this game due to the problems in that part of the world, to play for England C. I must admit I do enjoy DC's sense of hum our in all these radio interviews. He has certainly improved his PR in recent weeks now the pressure is off a bit.
oh bless him. Tom that is. I guess he doesn't quite realise how big a country Turkey is! On a serious note, I wonder how bad his injury was? Or was it just a bit woozy? he seemed to want to come back on but they wouldn;t let him

Taylor aways look for the ball into his feet, which normally would be fine but he's so small anything he gets under control he loses. Mainly because he's 5"2 and 65kg's! So easily brushed off the ball it is ridiculous. I'd like to see him making all his runs into the channels, getting onto the balls played into the space between CB & Full back. He certainly isn't a mark Hughes kind of forward that can play with his back to goal. Zero strength and stature. Only a matter of time before Harrison or White comes in to start, surely? to be fair to him he does normally do the stuff you mention in your 2nd paragraph. off day for him today. better pen than tuesday.

Just got home. I would describe this as a SOFT game. 2 soft penalties - both totally unnecessary. There was no one anywhere near Parkes when he handled. He was right in front of the linesman - who flagged vehemently. The referee took a few seconds to give it - probably because he couldn't believe that anyone could be so stupid. Their handball was almost as pathetic. Our first goal was soft - a lucky rebound off a defender giving the goalie no chance. We gave away a soft and unnecessary free kick for their second goal. They had a soft sending off for 2 soft bookings. Either side could have won, but neither side deserved to. There was precious little skill - especially from us. We created next to nothing. Hoof ball was the order of the day - which isn't so clever when Mattie T is one of your strikers - he deserves better service. We won very few second balls, and the midfield was not very competitive. Every time we tried something clever - we gave it away. Our free kicks were horrendous. You'd think they might work on this in training, but no sign of it today. No MOTM for me, because no one deserved it. Thankfully, they were as crap as we were, and we came away with a point. very fair analysis. we were quite poor. wouldn't say shots were crap though. Looked pretty good, especially their wide men. VERY GLAD that you are the first person to write that "We gave away a soft and unnecessary free kick for their second goal", rather than the old 'it wasn't a free kick' line everyone else is trotting out. Oh yeah, it's never our fault is it. always the refs fault. totally unnecessary freekick to give away in a very dangerous position. He tackled him from the side, even though the guy was about up to /into a defender who was face on to him and hopefully would have stopped him with a simple block tackle. No need to make a questionable tackle in that situation. leave it for the centre back. That's his job. good game overall though. exciting. fast. grt atmosphere.

A almost ok performance today. You can see them trying to pass it around at times but it often leads to the ball being lost. The good sings are there but just in small moments. Too deep second half. Trotman his usual immense self. Martin predictable and what a miss - wide of wide. Didn;t look like a free kick to me that led to their goal. A win would have robbed Aldershot today who were dominant in spells. A few bits of quality though and you can see how this team could go from decent to very good. Aldershot fans were a credit to the Conference despite the drum - Gasheads did little to add to the atmosphere until we went ahead which was disappointing. Had to nod when they sang 'wing when you're winning" as was true but not like us. Anyway a relief to get a draw and keep the run going as we rode our luck toward the end. not sure where you were standing/sitting? Sussex? Excellent atmosphere. Loads of singing form both sides. we didn't need a stupid drum to sing along to. of course we went a little bit quiet when 1-0 down, and after that free kick. quelle surprise. But to say "Gasheads did little to add to the atmosphere" is so, so wide of the mark! did you get in late because there was loads of singing even before the start? by the by- shots were silent for much of the 2nd half until they equalised. That's football! we road our luck at the end? you mean like forcing their goalie into an excellent save from Lee brown's free kick?? sorry, but you had rovers goggles on. I bet shots fans were breathing a huge sigh of relief when he saved that one, just like we did when they hit the bar.

I fail to understand the tactics regarding substitutions. We are leading with 15 minutes to go,so why take off an attacker and bring on a defender, thats 2 changes new right back, needs time to settle and a 3rd cetre back, needs time to adjust.By removing an attacking player we are limiting our options going forward and inviting the opposition to attack. The old saying the best form of defence is attack should be hung up in the dressing room,if the ball is in the opposition area THEY CANNOT SCORE not rocket science.Shot ourselves in the foot again

Thats all well and good but he is a striker and 3 goals,2 from the spot,is not a good return,he isnt cool enough when in on the keeper, remember the vitriol that Andy Williams got when he did the same,we cannot afford to have a strker who cannot score from open play and misses numerous opportunities to correct it.We have plaed 16 games and our top scorer has 3 goals, ridiculous

I don't recognise that as what happened. Monkhouse had faded to nothing by the time he went off and Leadbitter played right midfield. His pace actually caused Aldershot problems and led to our best chance of the match, which Dave Martin generously squandered.

correct. Monkhouse did little whereas Leadbitter injected some youthful pace into the RIGHT MIDFIELD/WING position

Exactly. Makes me wonder whether he was there tbh

But when Leadbiter came on Lockwood moved inside, whether that was instructions from the bench or just his own decision, either way it didnt work

Roberts scored on 76 mins. Ellis replaced Cunnington on 78 mins,as a like-for-like replacement. Parkes was injuredand had to be replaced on 88 mins, by a CB, Mark McChrystal

Sure - it was a good atmosphere I guess Gasheads set a high standard and I expect a bit more. Got there just before start and it was mainly Aldershot fans making the noise. However could head Irene on the approach which is always special. It felt like we were quite deep and there was a lot of pressure. Maybe it just felt that way as I was nervous. Anyway I'm generally positive and thought there were many good signs. I even thought that after Barnet and Braintree!

As we paid on the day, we stood on the open terrace and I have to admit I thought Aldershot outsang 'us' for 90 minutes. For the number there and the fact that roof is an excellent amplifier, I thought Rovers fans were fairly quiet yesterday apart from, as the Aldershot fans suggested, when we were winning
