Stats on forwards from yesteryear that is!
A lot of talk about Matty Taylor and his goals (13 games and 1 goal). Here is how long it took some of our best forwards in recent years (from their first appearance) to get their second goal for the club.
Rickie Lambert - 21 games
Jason Roberts - 17 games
Junior Agogo - 13 games
Nathan Ellington - 20 games
Richard Walker - 13 games
It does take time sometimes. I would give Ellis his chance tonight, but I am certainly not going to write off Taylor just yet.

On that basis it should be Matt Harrold playing for England as his goal:game ratio was one of the best ever for Rovers in his first 40 games. (cue comments that he only scored penalties for us, etc, etc.)

Interesting stats but it just shows you can prove anything with stats, I assume the likes of Duffy & Williams had similar stats but never want on to be profilic scorers. Regardless sometimes taking a player out of the limelight can assist, after all Trollope took some stick for continually playing Williams when he couldn't score. I don't think anybody is writing Taylor off just yet but we clearly need somebody to start scoring soon.

My point was to simply highlight that some players don't hit it off straight away but can come good. I accept that they don't always pull through though as we know with the vast amount of forwards we have been through over the years!

Matt Taylor will IMO become an excellent player for BRFC. Once he has settled in properly and gotten used to our ways he will score 18 goals this season, easy. One thing I have liked is that it's just not one oe two players scoring, they're being shared around. Something which I feel is better.

It took Chris Dickson's 1 game to get 3 goals. What happened to him...!!!

I see Clarke today said if our strikers don't start scoring soon he will look to strengthen. Anyone think this is true or, he's just giving the lads a kick up the arse?

On what do you base that, his highest seasons return is 10 goals and that was 4 years ago,so why do you think he is suddenly going to be prolific when he obviously never has been

I dont believe it ,he has had a number of strikers recommended to him by myself and a few others and not even bothered to have a look

I don't think fans are writing him off yet it just maybe it's time for him to go on the bench for a week or two. With the players listed above and the games it took them to score two goals , was this consecutive games ? I doubt it

''there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.''

I still find the Rickie stat amazing. 21 games just to get to two goals for the season! The rest was history
