Not intending to be critical of any player today or in previous matches, but one thing we don't seem to get right is the pull-back. Several times today and in previous matches, we've had a forward in an advanced position in the penalty area with a narrow shooting angle. Two, three or more players in support, but we've taken the decision to shoot and missed. Instead a pull back would result in a tap in.
If you don't believe me, look at Brazil v Germany in this year's world cup
Apart from Germany's first goal (which I suppose you could also count as a pull-back as it came from a corner) the other six goals came from pull-backs. I'd suggest our forward line and Marcus take a look.

I agree with that. It takes vision and confidence, istm, coz blazing over the bar from a narrow angle is kinda acceptable, but laying a soft pass across the box that goes straight to their centre back isn't.

Agree 100%. It often needs the players on the attacking side to slow up around the edge of the box, as most defenders are mesmerised by the player on the ball and keen to defend deep around the 6-yard area. Also, it's good if the player on the ball can get his head up to see what's on, and the supporting players can move to ensure a clean path for the pull-back. For an example of how to mess this up, see England in Switzerland (Welbeck, Sterling and Rooney).
Another ploy I haven't seen at Rovers for some time is the late dash to the near post (think Richard Walker first goal at Wembley in 2007). A good percentage of crosses from any team don't clear the first man. But if the first man is your own striker, he can get a flick in to score.

I think Matty Taylor must have read this thread. He managed 3 or 4 pull-backs tonight. None of them came off though.

I think it's more often seen the better the standard of players / teams . Watch prem football or decent international football and you'll see the pull back quite often. It's vision on the part of the bloke who looks up and has time to pick the pass and the weight of the ball and the runner who times that run expects that ball.

Fair play matty great pen.
