... does our website have to be SO shoddy. Spelling, punctuation etc is shocking today and makes the club look as much a laughing stock as Santa's Grotto last year. I know Kirsty has gone but even spell checking an article would help. I'd point out all the errors myself, from the first word missing an apostrophe, but it's really not worth the hassle. Make your own minds up... www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/darrell-02.10.14-1983972.aspx

*Second word missing the apo, not first*

In fairness to whoever penned it, Darrell has prised more effort out of the players.

You could volunteer to proof read articles before they are posted - that would be constructive and help with the professionalism. I doubt spell check would note a missing apostrophe anyway.

"Darrell has stated that his has confidence replacement Will Puddy’s ability". What??? Sure I'd proofread it if someone was going to pay me. The club has just automatically sent this out without a cursory glance. It may have been done by a work experience person but you don't just press send when thousands can read it and it goes under the name of Bristol Rovers official website.

When et cetera is abbreviated to etc. it takes a period/stop point unless it is the last word of a sentence.

In fairness to whoever penned it, Darrell has prised more effort out of the players. Well maybe he can get them to work on the website in their spare time! I do think it's something we need to massively improve on. Again, it's another one of those things where you look around the football league and non-league and you see so many clubs who have less resources to call on than us doing a much better job and you are forced to ask why? I understand the template website is far from ideal - I think things like that are a rip off and football clubs were dumb for signing up to it. But other clubs use the template to much better effect than we do - they make it easier to navigate and with better, more professional looking content. Yes, why not use your fanbase on this one. There must be plenty of gasheads out there who would happily give up some time to help with this sort of thing. It's a small thing but it is the sort of thing that grates because it appears indicative of a club that has not adapted to the modern football world and remains incredibly reluctant innovate or change anything. When faced with technology or a change in the football environment as a club Rovers seem to prefer the 'stop the world I want to get off....' approach over actually engaging with that change - it's frustratingly self-defeating in the end. It's like when people sound off about 'bloody football forums....' being a bad influence. You might as well talk about the telephone being a bad influence or computers; it is a reality of modern football and you either find a way of adapting or someone else will. Embrace the opportunity it presents to engage fans and get them involved.

Second line; comma after "Sure". Final sentence; comma after "person", and shouldn't "send" have been in inverted commas? Oh dear, perhaps I shouldn't have used semi-colons in that manner.

I think playing in the Conference makes us a far bigger "laughing stock" than a few typos on our website?
"Darrell also said that some of the clubs injured players could make an appearance this weekend but kept his cards close to his chest"
So that will be Monkhouse then given McM already returned to the squad, Brunt's gone on loan and Balatana(?) is hardly going to be risked before a reserve game/outing form the bench?

All very funny I'm sure, but I'm not getting paid for it and thousands of people around the world aren't googling my comments on here. They may, however, be googling Bristol Rovers and finding that site - their first impression of our club

Whoops! Sorry, buckrippers, just joshing. As a fully paid-up member of the pedants club (and never start a sentence with a preposition - Oh,I just did, I hate the spell-checker generated spelling mistakes. Mis-use of there, their and they're is the worse. I have come across that several times on the Rovers website. "Should of" and "would of" instead of "should have" and "would have" is another annoyance. I know - I need to get a life!
