1. Both teams were poor first half but we were slightly on top until two dreadful errors turned the tables massively in Eastleighs favour. First step forward Tom Parkes. What the hell was he thinking playing the home forward in with an unforced error that a downs league player would be embarrased about? Mildenhall who had already made one fantastic save came rushing out to the rescue and seemed to get the ball just ahead of the forward. Big Relief, but no for the second dreadful error step forward Bozo the Clown our referee for night who gave the home side a free kick and sent Mildenhall to the stands. A minute later the home side were ahead and at that point it looked for all the world that we would be in for a very miserable night.
2. All doom and gloom amongst our support at the break there was little comfort in the fact that we know we often struggle against 10 men but we should have had more faith. In the second half our 10 men were magnificent, every one of then giving their all for team and the fans and when Ollie Clarke gave us a deserved equaliser with a wonder goal (similar to Campbell's at Lincoln in the play offs that time) it was bedlam in the away end and cue the loudest rendition of Irene reverberating around the ground.
3. After our goal we continued to press for the winner (Just like old Wardy would have had us doing!) and you wouldn't have known we were playing with less players on the pitch than them. Eastliegh pressed for the winner in the last 10 minutes but in truth there were few heart stopping moments however two bookings for Clarke the second as a result of a reckless challenge from his own mis control in the last few seconds were a disappointment.
4. Puddy did ok when he came on for Mildenhall. He doesn't comand his area like Mildy does and for some reason I feel nervous when he comes for crosses but after his despearately poor showing at Barnet he should gain some confidence from his performance tonight.
5. A brilliantly earned point in the end in the circumstances but most pleasing was the performance. We are unrecognisable from the shambles at Barnet and Altrincham in the first two away games. This team is well up for the challenge and a top 5 place looks well within their capability.
