Unless a reporter asks the question and then he seems, or at least seemed, only to happy to share the info. Quite right. In any case, we could do with Monkhouse and Balanta fit and available for selection. Even more so after last night's game. From the little that has been reported Monkhouse is there or there about's, but Balanta may be a little longer.

Not unduly worried by Monkhouse being injured, havent been particularly impressed with his performances. As he is a left sided midfielder, I would rather start with Martin and possibly have Monkhouse on the bench as cover. I'm going to disagree with you here. Monkhouse has got through a lot of work and definitely adds something with his heading ability. Effectively, Gosling has replaced Monkhouse, but on the right hand side and his performances have also been good with a couple of goals to boot. The pleasing thing is that we have some genuine competition for places with players that can do a job for us. Monkhouse recovering and Balanta up to fitness can only add to that. Disagree with the lot of work comment but agree with his heading ability and the genuine competition. I am not one of those people that think a player has to rush around like a headless chicken to be any good, but Monkhouse has appeared disinterested to me. He is so one footed and lacks pace and therefore is predictable. I know both Monkhouse and Gosling have scored 2 goals, but for me Gosling is more creative and I prefer him over Monkhouse to start in games against the lesser teams in this division. However I don't necessarily think Gosling is the answer, especially as he does not help out the right back very much. For me the right side of midfield is the main problem position this season.

That's where I remember him playing for Swindle and Hartlepool. I know what youre saying about left footers playing on the right, but Monkhouse hasn't looked comfortable there to me. Gosling and Messi are players who beat defenders, whereas Monkhouse isn't that type of player. Thought he played well at Forest Green but disappointing in his other games, and we haven't done too bad without him no thats fair comment if you remember him playing there,i do like him as a player but it dosnt mean i think he should play every game,i just want him fit to be back in the squad and able to play in several positions for us and compete for a starting place I agree with getting him fit will definately benefit the squad as he is a different type of player to Martin and Gosling.
