I've seen little bits mentioned here and there but thought I would generate a thread on its own.
Anyone else think it's odd there has been no reports of an injury to Andy Monkhouse or has it and i've missed it?

Is that really the case as up to now he seems to give info away than most previous managers in his weekly updates? We all knew the score with McChrystal's injury and also the Brunt "fitness" issues.

I thought the poster was saying they haven't heard or read anything about an injury?
I didn't know he was injured, but then I have been away

"Nothing official. Monkhouse shouldn't be too much longer. Balanta maybe a week or two. Don't know for sure" - James McNamara on Twitter

I think the clue is in the individuals you mention. No hard and fast rule, but it is noticeable that DC does not give a blow by blow account on injuries.

Unless a reporter asks the question and then he seems, or at least seemed, only to happy to share the info.

But it is a very long season, with plenty of it still to go, and if we weren't picking up points then I might agree with you. But the fact is that we're ticking along quite nicely, and with both Andy Monkhouse and Angelo Balanta waiting in the wings then it's a win win situation as far as I can see. I prefer to think of it as they are both being ''rested'' for the good of the team. I'm quite certain that they will both earn their corn between now and the end of the season. But how quickly times change eh, that we can even think along these lines?

The only thing missing from us being right up there, toe to toe with Barnet is the goals for column, other than that we have the potential to do a Carlisle I believe, but early days I know!!!

Not unduly worried by Monkhouse being injured, havent been particularly impressed with his performances. As he is a left sided midfielder, I would rather start with Martin and possibly have Monkhouse on the bench as cover.

As Alex Fergueson once said, "you win matches with a good attack, you win titles with a good defence" of course, we'd like both

Monkhouse is a class act and the only one in our midfield who actually wants the ball and has the ability to hold onto it and take it forward. Add to that the two goals he has scored and the fact he can play centre midfield, out wide or as was proven at Lincoln do well up front. I( am very disappointed he is injured as he is worth his place for his heading ability alone. Certainly wish it had been Monkhouse and not Taylor who had the headers at FGR and on saturday because we would have won at FGR and been 2 up at Southport instead of clinging on.

I know what youre saying about left footers playing on the right, but Monkhouse hasn't looked comfortable there to me. Gosling and Messi are players who beat defenders, whereas Monkhouse isn't that type of player. Thought he played well at Forest Green but disappointing in his other games, and we haven't done too bad without him

Monkhouse has got through a lot of work and definitely adds something with his heading ability. Effectively, Gosling has replaced Monkhouse, but on the right hand side and his performances have also been good with a couple of goals to boot. The pleasing thing is that we have some genuine competition for places with players that can do a job for us. Monkhouse recovering and Balanta up to fitness can only add to that.
