I admire Clarke for going about his business. The end result may not be pretty at times like yesterday. I like his honesty about yesterday's game that it was scrappy and we ground it out. I hope he keeps that honest approach. I also like the way he is not afraid to change the team to suit the opposition. The Bod need to let him have this season to see what he can achieve. The challenge will come if we have a couple of defeats. Let's hope it doesn't happen!! The challenge has come and gone, DC has stood up to it and prevailed. No, in football, the challenge never ends.

he came to the club by accident, his appointment got us relegated out of the league for the first time in 90 years, pre season was woeful, the start of the season was woeful. Since then he has shown there is something about him, perhaps our luck and chemistry approach is going to pay off ? A very very good run indeed, well done to fhe team and DC in particular. Bizzare comment. Could you please explain how he came to the club by accident? Did he trip with a pen in his hand, and land on a contract? His appointment did not get us relegated, mismanagement of the club over a sustained period got us relegated. You play roulette for long enough, eventually it comes up green.

Nothing bizarre , As i have said many times before as quoted by JW he wanted an experienced league manager as his assistant but couldnt find anyone. He rang DC to arrange a pre season friendly with Salisbury. They got chatting about football and he ended up asking him to be assistant. He wasnt headhunted, there was no master plan. When he took over from Ward he tried to change everything despite only having 8 games left and it cost us. There is nothing odd about DC having doubtera but he has a chance to put it right and have a good career.
The last 5 ganes have been a huge turn around and he deserves a lot of credit.

That sounds like John Ward met him by accident, not that he was appointed by accident. Saying he was appointed by accident is a massive exaggeration. I remember the games leading up to Ward going upstairs, our performances we poor and were getting worse. You can have no evidence that not changing things would have meant that we would have stayed up. Besides, saying that it was any individual manager's fault is short sighted and way too simplistic. Apart from a very few seasons, Rovers were pissing around in at the bottom of the league for over a decade. It was bound to bite us on the arse eventually.

I supported his appointment over the summer, questioned that support after 3 games and some questionable tactics at Barnet and 3 or 4 changes for each game. But I never advocated his dismissal, unlike a friend after the Barnet debacle. I am glad he seems to have turned things round, he should take a lot of credit for the team spirit and organisation that has been evident in recent games. Well done DC

Hats off to DC - he's bought in players who have obviously bought in to his ideas.
It was too late to have an affect on at the end I last season as those wastrels wouldn't have listene to Alex Ferguson!!!
What's happened to Monkhouse? Injured?

Think you also need to give Yates & Stewart some praise as well, as the whole management team seem to have come together after the Altrincham defeat to work together. After that defeat it's been an amazing turn around, not sure we've every witnessed anything like it for decades without needing a change of management?

Its noticeable that Clarke appears to have stopped acting like a coach during games, and more like a manager.

I will never ever say 'I told you so' to fellow Gasheads, as some seem supporters seem to be doing. Most Bristol Rovers fans this summer/year have been at their lowest point following this club. What do people expect? Instead, we should be embracing those who want to change their mind about DC.
The whole i'm better than you attitude will get us nowhere as a fan base. Let the football do the talking on the pitch and allow people to believe in the manager/team again.
Then let's get promotion as one. Fans, manager and team.

Same as always here from day one, good tactician, positive attitude, knows the game inside out, worked players contracts and signing ethos smartly, ignored the growing amount of morons we now have at our club thinking 7/8 games is all you should get before getting the sack if you're not winning every game. An excellent start under a board of directors that have no idea, very impressed and convinced he will manage in the league, hopefully with us and a professional set up off the pitch. I don't think anyone can say he's been a good tactician from day one and he certainly didn't start off looking like he knows the game inside out. I'd doubt that even now. We're on a good run fair play to him. Good for us, good for the players, good for the club but our football is still scrappy - he even says it himself.

Sorry, I am a negative tosser as usual. Fixed. Zing! I'm assuming you've told DC you think he's a negative tosser too then, since I was quoting him?

What do people expect? ^^^ This. Fair play to DC and the team, 5 wins in a row is an excellent achievement but the proof will be in the pudding in terms of the end of season position. Long may the good from continue.

He's doings ok, hampered by his mixed start of season but he's winning people over. He's still got a lot to do as well as a lot to learn but he's getting there. I look forward to the half term report at Christmas.

I did post on another thread a few weeks back, wait till you have played 10-15 games, then look at things, your league position, how you have played, and only then should you start to judge Darrell's performance as manager. I mean, there are a few more games to go before you hit the 15 games mark, and by then, you should be in a comfortable position in the play-off spots. I only post this because a fair few people practically laughed at my post, and the couple before that about Stuart, and the league in general. And told me what I already knew about how Salisbury performed there last season...

I look forward to the half term report at Christmas. Just checked the fixtures and surprised to find that on 4th jan 2015 we are due to play our 30th league game of the season, weather and cup runs permitting of course.Half term may be a lot earlier in the conference it seems.
