Me too - reminded them of the effect on the local economy if Sainsbury's pull out because they can't get the extension (OK they'll pull out anyway allegedly!) and also that the store will take a number of people off benefits and, of course contribute massive business rates to BCC.

Excuse my ignorance on this matter, but, I was under the impression that Rovers were suing their partners for not submitting this application ? If so, does this mean as per the last official statement that things are progressing ?

Finally I've said the main bus depot is a stone's throw from the Mem.
If you mean Muller Rd, I didn't think that was a depot any more, isn't it only used as a bus storage yard? I was feeling quietly confident that there wouldn't be a problem, but having just waded through the letters of support and objection, to be honest, if the decision were made purely on those comments, you would have no choice but to decline the application. Not sure who prepared the application, but it seems that some of the supporting diagrams are incorrect, no account is taken of noise and vibration prior to lorries arriving at the site entrance, and the applicant submitted supporting material in German with no certified translation. What's that all about? |

If you mean Muller Rd, I didn't think that was a depot any more, isn't it only used as a bus storage yard? From what i have read it seems we have submitted stuff in a foreign language and omitted certain things which surely are no better than Sainsburys not providing enough info.
Particularly 'liked' one supporting letter suggesting that of you dont support pass it you have a hidden agenda.

The difference that people moving to the area may not have anticipated is that football will stage circa 23 events per year and what Sainsbury's want will result in residents being effected for 342 more days per year, and on the 7 or so evening games football is always done and dusted by 11pm. And don't forget that plenty of people moved into BS7 long before Rovers arrived. Some of these poeple are serial objectors, it almost seems to be a way of life to them, probably if you walked up to them in the street and handed them a £50 note they would complain bitterly that they wanted 2 twenties and a ten, but some others genuinely feel that this store and the extended delivery hours will have an adverse effect on their quality of life, and reading the letters of objection, some of them may well have a case. Having said that, it's unlikely that Sainsbury's will attract 5000 people singing obscene songs, or that Sainsbury's customers will require a visible Police presence to ensure that they don't end up fighting on Filton Avenue with people for no reason other than them supporting a different supermarket. |

After all what's to stop someone post numerous support, or objection, comments with made up names if they just repeat the name as their address? |

How about reading what's been said rather than just looking for an opportunity to get onto your soap box again? I clearly stated that, based on the letters of support and objection, in my oinion, the points raised in the objections far outweigh those put forward in the letters of support. I didn't comment on the enhanced proposals. But as you mention them, they are flawed, incomplete, supported by incorrect drawings and have a technical suppliment in German with no supporting acredited translation. As you don't think that Dr Willingham's opinion counts for much due to him not living locally, it's reasonable to extrapolate that your measure for the validity of support seems to be that only people in the area should have their opinion considered, you would be exactly the sort of 'fan' that Rovers don't need. When the original application was submitted far more people from BS7 objected than wrote letters of support. So by your own measure, the original application should have been declined. What the hell is wrong with me? Probably a good question, I'm trying to take on board the opinion of all of those effected. If that makes me a bad person then I'll just have to learn to live with it. PS. Ref the noise containment measures, objectors are claiming that those appear to be flawed as well as the Db ratings are different to those used on the original application. |

It must be very rare for someone somewhere not to be inconvenienced by a major development. The real impact of this scheme has already been considered and consent was given. If fences sort the noise, someone else will be complaining about the visual consequences. If anything is ever to get done, the authorities need to balance negatives against positives and make decisions for the greater good. Approval will bring happiness to tens of thousands of blue Bristolians and prosperity to the region. The sleeping patterns of Doris in Thrubshaw Gardens should not be allowed to stand in the way of progress, Correct and i dont disagreehowever progress has only been stopped in this case by Sainsburys and they already have greater delivery hours than any store in Bristol |
