Afternoon all, The planning portal is open requesting input from local residents for the proposed changes to the planning application for the Mem redevelopment. There is an opportunity for people to submit comments on the proposals here planningonline.bristol.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=NAND07DNKRF00 which may be used to help determine the impact of the increased delivery hours. If you have any contribution to make regarding whether deliveries should be allowed for all hours between 05:00 and 00:01, how it will impact the local residents, the current noise levels in the area, efforts made in the application to mitigate noise levels such as barriers or the benefit to Horfield of a new store (better parking and reduced congestion on match days) then you may like to take a few minutes to put these thoughts down on paper. Obviously it's best to be sensible, strange though it may seem to us, the planning officers have scant regard for the importance of the new stadium to Rovers or the consequences for the local community if the financial situation deteriorated further, so keep any comments to how it will affect Horfield if possible.

One possible angle is that spreading out the deliveries would potentially reduce traffic congestion around the store.

The problem here now, is that without knowing that Sainsbury's were keen to pull out using this condition; the residents may favour the new hours as there are noise reduction benefits with the increase. So they'd assume it's likely to go ahead (Only a extra hour top and tail/no increase in HGV's/noise reduction proposals included).
As residents know Sainsbury's will pull out without this, they will fight tooth and nail and kick up a fuss as much as possible.
I fear looking at the objections it's dead and a compo package is all we can hope for.

That said, who would just love the Mem to be redeveloped or improved/modernised anyway? It's Rovers home. New South stand and improvements all round. Hindsight is a great thing; but I'm sure we could of afforded it with the losses incurred on this ordeal alone.

Not even sure you'd class it as Rovers "home" it just seems a place we now play at rather than a real home like the UWE could (will?) become, or the mem could have been made if the money hadn't been spent elsewhere.

The Mem has never felt like our home to me, even with the egg chasers gone. If (and I realise it's a huge, near impossible if) we were to become a top Championship side, the Mem will become a right pain in the ass. We'd be at capacity all the time (even with a redevelopment akin to the plans prior to UWE) and losing out on potential income as a result and the traffic/parking will be a nightmare.

Piss on my fire why don't you! I guess my perspective and sentimentality is due to it being the place where my dad bought me for my first game.. See your points though.

Don't forget for some of our supporters it is their home, they won't have been to Eastville or Twerton so will have no experience of those venues.
