He's our most prolific striker this season without playing nearly as many minutes as the others. Should he start tonight or is he best used as an impact player at the moment?

I think he's better to come on keep his feet on the ground , it's a tough one though as he looks the most talented although really impressed with Taylor he has to score soon.....

Carry on with the super sub role for now. It puts us in a position of strength to be able to bring his pace on in the 2nd half, and I think that the impact he's had has done wonders for his confidence and development.

I like that we now seem to have four strikers who are all completely different types of players.
I don't think Harrison should start but bring him on even earlier than usual. About 50 minutes in, if he performs well again I would start him next match. We have to make him want it!

I would like to think that DC has had a quite word with him encouraging him to keep it up and he will soon find himself in the starting 11.

It's tricky, but we should not really need an 'impact' player if forwards are scoring. DC is remaining loyal to the ones he has brought in, but they have to start producing. An 'impact' player should be an attacking midfielder who can also shore up the midfield with 20 min to go.
What effect will being a 'permanent' sub have on Ellis?

If you score you should be rewarded.
Start him.

He's come off the bench to score twice now where Taylor and White have failed, personally I'd give him a few starts and see what he does with them, it's up to Taylor to try and impact from the bench then

Based on what I saw last season, which was a player whose confidence was shot to pieces, then I'd say that a prolonged period coming off the bench in situations where the odds favour him would do him the power of good. It would also keep fans on his side - I've never seen a young player get as much abuse from Gasheads as Ellis did last season in the games I went to.

Taylor seems to be playing well even if he's not scoring, whilst he keeps doing that it would be harsh to drop him.

An impact player is anyone who can come on and influence the game and scoring a goal definitely does that.

Ellis over 90 minutes can be a comedy turn, but obviously given effects he's had as a sub this season and last he can have an impact.
When he does something good he is very good. The frequency of doing something good seems to be the same whether he starts games or comes on. If you analyse his good moments, they tend to be as defenders are tiring rather than at the beginning of games. 2 90 minute goals and a great cross on 89 minutes for Kaid to head home being the last 3 examples of very good things.
Him being an impact player is a no brainer at present, may be with maturity he will impact games more often and be effective when defenders are fit as well as tired.

Personally I would prefer to see Ellis used as an impact player, certainly for the time being at least. We are in an age when the squad is as important as the First XI, and I see Ellis' contribution to the team as being one where he comes off the bench on about the 60 minute mark, with fresh legs against tiring defenders legs. This matter of the opposition teams fitness, or lack of, is even more valid in the Conference.
I don't believe that his effectiveness would be so great from the start of the game, at least not for the present. But the team is evolving, so the formation and the starting line-up can be changed according to circumstances and fitness.

Cunnington & Taylor for me.
Save Bambi on ice for the late impact stuff for now.

I think he has done enough to start. Give him a chance to be an impact player for 90 minutes! Along with Monkhouse up front. Get them on the back foot from kick off...

I can't fault the way DC is managing him. He is being used to great effect.

Three questions:
Is he better than other forwards? Yes, but Taylor is improving. Is he an impact player? Possibly, but did not do enough last night. Will he get pi❇❇ed of playing part-time? Possibly, but it's a part of his rehabilitation.

Didn't do enough last night?
Sorry, I don't really get that. Does he have to come on a score every time? I thought he led the line well, looked after the ball, and managed to create a couple of half chances. The game had been won at that point and he was probably told not go out all guns blazing, just slow down the game and try and create chances if and when he could. Thought he did well.
