I mentioned the town "Dunstable" in another thread (Where are you going) and it transported me back to the late 70's, early teens, sat on the floor at home in Winterbourne, listening to Fred Wedlock's "Frolicks". Ladies and gentleman, it's the Handier Household Help. It's only 6 and four pence from your local hardware store, it's a handier household help than you have ever had before. Tune starts at 2 minutes, but the stand up before hand is worth a listen. Enjoy. Happy Mondays.

Another of my favourites, underrated but classic as it sounds like a lot of their others.
Sonnet by The Verve, builds up brilliantly.
And what a cracking vid from the late 90s

It's definitely up there Bas... It's incredible is'nt Epping. I think I mentioned it last year, as we go through autumn my musical tastes seem to switch to orchestral. Maybe it’s the time of year for wallowing in music tracks of longer lengths, or for contemplation without distraction, or. Basically I don’t know.

This is the music, I like from Finlandia.
Stirring stuff. No wonder they shot so many Russians in 1939.

Radio 6 "wear your band t-shirt day". They just played this. When I first heard it (recently) - I thought wow - who is this, at last some decent new music. Released Nov 1972.

Never heard this before, typical SF and Marriott, but tin pan alley and fun all in together, good pick 👍

Tobacco? and the guy who speaks fluent gibberish is on the album. some of their better music though is on the earlier albums? EDIT. um it says tobacco in quite big words actually

Actually I think that is opening track from Karelia suite. Finlandia this one yes to me Sibelius music has a lot of emotion built in, but in a more mature way than say, Tchaikovsky.

You are quite right, E S. I always thought the Karelia suite was part of Finlandia. You live and learn.

And surely, the best music to stay in, turn up, wallow in this time of year is Mahler slow movements.
Go for it
