One piece of music a day is a good shout. My music tastes are more Radiohead/Smiths/Wedding Present/Joy Division so "uplifting" is going to be a stretch for me... however. I give you ABC: The Look of Love from surely the best New Romantics Album, The Lexicon Of Love. A cheesy, trippy, brilliant video.

OK. Radiohead are not renowned for "uplifting". So this is my best stab. "Let Down" from OK Computer. It's a real builder. Seriously - give it a go... It's a song based on Franz Kafka's novelette "Metamorphosis". Ultimately I think it's about redemption and re-birth (these things are open to interpretation). Best line: "Don't get sentimental, it always ends up drivel".

I thought the bassist was a bit gobby and potty-mouthed at Glasto the other year. But I do like Haim. UTG.

Aztec Camera: Somewhere in my Heart. A very summery song.

I cannot find just the intro to pink floyds animals but the lyrics are
If I didn’t care what happened to you and you didn’t care for me We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain occasionally glancing up through the rain, wondering which of the buggers to blame And watching...for pigs on the wing

Pigs on the Wing Parts 1 & 2. I must have heard Dark Side and Wish You Were Here a couple of hundred times each, easily. But for some reason - never got round to Animals. So thanks for the heads-up...

Pigs on the Wing Parts 1 & 2. I must have heard Dark Side and Wish You Were Here a couple of hundred times each, easily. But for some reason - never got round to Animals. So thanks for the heads-up... I think animals was another of Roger Waters prescient light bulb moment albums. I know that it’s easy to say this with the benefit of hindsight but he summed up the greed and consumer led way in which most now live in and with. It’s like his own version of George Orwell’s 1984. As an ex salesman, it certainly hit the nail on the head, for me. They never toured that album & I wish they would have. I like the fact that both the intro and ending leave the listener with an hopeful message. I think it’s the most underrated album by them and you are not alone in having not heard it. Animals & the final cut are two very powerful albums. I know I’m showing my age but they are always my go to group & I still get a lot from listening to them. If you ever saw the Floyd live then it absolutely ruined you for other gigs. The effects and light show are spectacular. Nothing else I have seen and heard comes even close. I was hoping for lots better to come from Radiohead but it just didn’t happen but ok computer is a fantastic album. Thanks for finding something close to what I was looking for but that is not how it is on the album and whoever produced it has added the extra guitar. Happy Easter my friend

I remember buying the Nevermind album, at Heathrow airport before boarding a flight to Chicago. I was absolutely stunned and had it on loop for the entire flight. I just knew that it and they were something very different and very special. It was the punk of its time and got many kids into their garages and forming bands. It’s another one of my albums that I revisit fairly often. The track something in the way can still raise some strong emotion.
