I was wondering what people think of the ludicrous idea to give double point's in the last race of the F-1 season in Abu Dhabi? It's just a stupid idea to keep things alive until the last race. It's been good enough for 50 years(normal points) why change it!! Even though Mercedes are dominating it's not as if F-1 is boring, far from it in fact. Just leave it alone Bernie!!! (My opinion!)

Barmy idea...you could be 49 points behind the leader going into the last race and end up the champion...that would make me tune out rather than tune in

I can see second place winning the championship the way it's turning out, or...Hamilton will take Rosberg out as his 'equaliser'...

Like you I think Hamilton would have the balls to do it. Rosberg though he seems to have lost the mental battle with Lewis & what with all the stick he's getting I don't think he'd do it, especially after what happened at Monaco & Spa.

Hamilton will win the championship one way or another and can see Rosberg leaving at the end of the season, only thing that worries me is where the new driver will come from and I hope it is not Williams! (because that is my local team).

(because that is my local team). I doubt if Rosberg will leave at the end of the season, he has only just signed a 2 year contract extension. Drivers though if anything were to happen to Rosberg, maybe Nico Hulkenberg? A top driver who will drive for a top team one day. I also like Jules Bianchi of Marussia, though being a Ferrari contracted driver may make it difficult. Another driver I really like is Valtry Bottas(sorry!) He really has come of age this season, I remember seeing him at Silverstone when he was the Williams test driver. Even back then you could see he was going to be a good, quick driver.

Agree with you about Bottas, he is a class act and a very nice man as well, very respected and liked by the Williams team. Great Race today.

Despite already winning 2 more races than his championship winning season, Lewis is only 3 points ahead this season.

Yeah but Lewis has only finished within the top 3 when he has raced, and two of those thirds came from the back of the grid/pit lane! I think this is starting to play on Rosberg's mind, as he knows that he can really only win when Hamilton has a car issue, or he takes him out!

If Lewis hadn't been 'taken out' by Rosberg he would be even further in front as even if he had finished 2nd in that race he would have accumulated points from that position, that's why he's only 3 points in front.

So, Vettel is going to Ferarri then, not to sure what to make of that move, is it a step back or is he doing a "Hamilton" and he knows something everyone else doesn't? Where doe's that leave Alonso? The only top drive available is probably Buttons seat at Mclaren, but after what he did when he left originally that's going to be a massive move all round. What was it a $100M fine for Mclaren because of him? or maybe he'll do a Hakkinen and take a sabbatical?

Another excellent win for Lewis, but it doesn't look good for Jules Bianchi. He hit the tractor that was taking Sutills car away, he's in hospital unconscious & not looking to good.

Marussia driver Jules Bianchi has suffered a "severe" head injury in a crash at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The FIA said the Frenchman is in surgery and will be moved to intensive care afterwards.
Bianchi, 25, was unconscious as he was taken to hospital following the incident which brought the rain-affected race to an early conclusion.
He lost control at the same spot on the Suzuka circuit where recovery vehicles were attending a previous crash.
In wet conditions, Sauber driver Adrian Sutil firstly spun and hit the tyre barrier as rain intensified in the latter stages of the race.
While recovery vehicles were lifting Sutil's car, Bianchi "lost control of his car, travelled across the run-off area and hit the back of the tractor".
The race was red-flagged and then declared over after 44 laps.
"The driver was removed from the car, taken to the circuit medical centre and then by ambulance to Mie General Hospital," the FIA said in a statement.
"The CT scan shows that he has suffered a severe head injury and he is currently undergoing surgery. Following this he will be moved to intensive care where he will be monitored."

What do we reckon, Lewis to take Nico out at the first corner?

No, it's not worth the risk, I wouldn't mind betting Rosberg will try something though.
It's weird though, all of Wolff's interviews seem to point that he wants Lewis to win, not sure if that's to get him to sign a contract, so Merc get more money, I don't know.

Double points didn't matter in the end.
The man who has out-performed his team mates throughout his entire career, and who is the best driver in F1 by some distance takes the championship.

It's a sport that needs a major kick up the backside. Interest is falling, teams are becoming unviable, TV companies are getting impatient and as a spectacle it has been very dull for a long time. I mean when was the last time there was genuine title race between 2 drivers in different teams? That's absolutely vital for making it interesting. There need to be at least 2 competitive teams or it just doesn't work because there's no intrigue. I used to like Formula 1 but really it has been uncompetitive for too long - and if sports are uncompetitive they will eventually die.
