David Clarkson has signed a contract with Scottish Premiership club, Dundee. Full story from today's Bristol Post . . . www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristol-City-Rovers-striker-David-Clarkson-signs/story-22897809-detail/story.htmlI'm pleased for the player because I thought he had a raw deal when he played for BRFC. He was continually played out of position when he was here, and consequently was not able to give us his best performances up front. It's likely that the size of his reputed salary was a factor in his move, but it's still annoying to me to think that he was on our books but never really got the opportunity to show us his best. Admittedly he was not a greyhound on the pitch, but he knew where the goal was . . . and what did we need last season, a goalscorer. Anyway, I'm pleased that he's fixed up. Scottish Premiership club, eh?

Typical of the disease in the English game Rovers stuck their best footballer, their number ten, the guy that should have been their match winner on the wing.

There were several factors involved in our relegation from the Football League, and the misuse of David Clarkson was most certainly one of them. There were many occasions when he was used as a substitute even when fit, and when he was played it was often not in his best position. He did show flashes of how good a goalscorer he could be though, and it still pains me to think of the way he was mishandled . . . and the consequences of that.

Sterling played in the number 10 role in the week
