What a stupid incident which should teach us ALL a lesson in that I suspect that a number of clubs will have pitches close to the fans
Matter not helped by one or two Braintree players who seemed to be quite 'happy' to move even closer to the back of the net rather than avoiding a possible 'issue'
We really need to rise above this type of thing or else it will only spell further trouble for the club and fans

Didn't seem all that bad tbh, one or two of the Braintree players appear to be smiling there.

Handbags not helped by the pitch being so close to the terrace.
Crazy really there isn't some sort of minimum distance that fans have to be from the pitch as the vid clearly shows. It could have been far, far worse.

If the FL didn't take such a soft approach towards this sort of crap there would be no reason teams like Braintree couldn't play in the football league.

We have to be realistic, and in no way am I excusing or condoning and fans poor behaviour, that many fans with a short fuse who have spent several hours imbibing a few sherberts at a local hostelry before a match will not need much to get angry when a situation like this occurs. As I say I certainly don't condone it nor would I ever do it but that is the realistic situation. With fans as close to the pitch like that under those circumstances then it is asking for trouble. All it takes is one nutter to kick off and several more will follow. I don't know about you but I would put players & officials safety above almost all other situations. It's all very well admiring the quaintness of certain grounds but if a player was seriously assaulted that would be an awful situation.
