It has been obvious for a long time that the board dont know how to turn the club around. I think they should asked Bobby Gould to return to the club as an adviser, He has spend a lifetime in football was always full of ideas and has a connection with Rovers I know this would cause controversy but these are times I never thought I would live to see.

I agree about an adviser. I wouldn't have Bobby though. He sounded very out of touch on BT sport the other week...

Certainly when choosing managers, they need to speak to a football person.
Clarke - appointed by Ward Ward - appointed because he was a decent former manager to deflect criticism McGhee - seemed a decent appointment in fairness Buckle - appointed by Higgs only despite warnings Penney - appointed by Higgs
That said, what ex player or coach of the club would answer the phone to Higgs or Boycie?
What we need is a DoF. Though the last proper one we had was at fault for everything according to our dear leader...

You've got two people steeped in football knowledge at the club - Alan Walsh and Pete Aitken- plus other experienced former players in the area. What's Keith Curle doing these days?!

Evidently you did not watch Gould's 'analysis' on BT Sport for the game against Grimsby...

I like the idea of Keith Curle being involved in some capacity even as manager.

I like the idea of Keith Curle being involved in some capacity even as manager. I hope you've got your tin hat on, because according to some on here he's a "bully". All I know is he was very unlucky to lose his job at Notts County after his first season they finished 7th. He guided them to a club-record unbeaten run of 22 away games, which stretched over almost a year and smashed a 41-year-old record of ten away league games undefeated. Campare that to our away record! Curle's overall league record at County speaks for itself: played 45, won 21, drew 13, lost 11, so they won or drew 76 per cent of games under him.

The BoD need to go out and find a top quality sports psychologist to come in and do a few group sessions and one to one sessions with the players because something is seriously wrong with how they are approaching there football mentally. You only have to look at someone like Lee Brown who has been part 3 awful seasons and 3 managers who have failed, something is not right in that group and it's nothing to do with DC, the mentality of the players hasn't been right for a while. Forget DOF's and getting a new manager and just try a different approach, only then can the BoD say they tried everything they could do.

We were all aware of the bullying thing at the time as it turned out Curle was cleared and received compensation for wrongful dismissal.
If he could come here and bully those idiots that run the club into taking on some common sense and listening for once then it wouldn`t be a bad thing.
Rovers fans are never happy and there were many who didn`t want Gary Johnson near the club at a time when Johnson was courting the job.

Get Dr Stephen Peters in - he'd cost a fortune, but is clearly successful in his field. Look him up on internet.

. . . a relatively successful clown though, eh? His relevant career record (as a player, and as a manager), courtesy of Wikipedia . . . As a player: Coventry City: Football League Second Division Champion: 1966–67. Arsenal: League Cup Runner-up 1969. Wolverhampton Wanderers (1st stint): Texaco Cup Winner: 1971. West Ham United: FA Cup Winner: 1975, FA Charity Shield Runner-up: 1975. Wolverhampton Wanderers (2nd stint): Football League Second Division Champion: 1976–77. As a manager: Bristol Rovers: Gloucestershire Cup Winner: 1982, 1983. Wimbledon: FA Cup Winner:1988, FA Charity Shield Runner-up: 1988. Compare that record with a few of our more(?) illustrious recent manager/coaches, but I will agree that he is pushing on a bit. Still you'll probably remember that he has virtually saved the club before, so he may well do so again, in an advisory role of course.

What's he done since 1988? Plus where's the £100K going to come from to pay a "football adviser" as far as getting a physic in surely that's all part of the manager's job, would we need one with Maddog or GJ in charge?

Can you really class Gloucestershire Cup winner as an achievement seeing only two clubs played for it likewise charity shield runner up in a two team comp?

Bobby Gould hasn't had a job in football for years, he's yesterday's man.
Curle as manager were Clarke to go? I'd take that.
If it were just asking someone's advice on appointments, someone like John Still would answer the phone and give an opinion on things.
