Easy trip for me. 40 minutes up the M11 / A120. Really looked forward to it. Orange Tree was rammed so went to the 'locals' pub - called imaginatively 'The Pub' - big banner on the building stating "Thepub team from Essex". Probably easiest for me to give my player ratings than run through the horrendous 90 minutes. Milldenhall: 8. Solid. Not at fault for either goals. And had the b*llocks to applaud the travelling support. Lockyer: 7. Not a right back, but didn't do much wrong today. Parkes: 7. Solid and won his fair share in the air. Wrongly penalised for the 'penalty'. It really wasn't a penalty. Trottman: 7. Solid. And applauded the away support. Brown: 2. Probably the worst I've ever seen him play. Martin: 5. Some good touches. Had our only shot on target in the second half. Wasted possession a lot though. Mansell: 5. Average. Worked hard, but to no effect. Clarke: 1. Really? Did we have no-one to replace him? Very very poor. Monkhouse: 4. He should be better than this. White: 2. No threat. No pace. No idea. Cunnington: 3. No threat. Subs who came on (Why oh why did DC wait for an hour before making changes. Brainless at Braintree). Sinclair: 6. Too late to make a difference. At least he tried. Taylor: 2. See White. Brunt: 3. See Cunnington. The referee really had no idea what he was doing. The penalty decision was a f******g joke - as were most of the decisions in the first half that all went to Braintree. Second half we didn't turn up and we were lucky not to concede 4 or 5. No threat at all (apart from Martin's shot). To conclude. We missed Harrison as a pacy threat up front. We were s**t and the best team won. A pub team from Essex.

Hi Epping ! Your marks seem very extreme but suppose you're very wound up !?
I went to Halifax game last week and noticed that only Martin had some pace to burn amongst the attacking players. Harrison has pace but he doesn't have the composure to go with it most of the time / and his finishing has deserted him well and truly. So if by magic the club put their money in their pockets we need some pace on the right especially and maybe put Monkhouse in the middle or keep Clarke there (he had a very good first half v Halifax but he is struggling with consistency that's for sure). I thought Sinclair had a brill impact v Halifax which resulted in our win - technically better than some posters were saying IMHO.
Did we actually try and play a passing game ? We saw this v Halifax but only in 1st half. second half was just shabby and chaotic. We don't talk about and expect quality football at our club - that's why we went down last season - not enough players comfortable on the ball/ passing ability / movement/closing players down when we don't have it !?

agree with some but not all, parkes pushed the forward and was poor,,,cunnington won endless flick on headers which white never got near to reading. ollie clarke you gave a 1 but he wasnt that good a 0 would have been more accurate

Only one pub team today and unfortunately it was not the team from Essex although to be honest they were not very good either and were aided by the most one sided referee I have seen in many a year. The sad thing is that the main thing that is missing is organisation from the back to the front. What do they do in training? They look like they haven't met each other before and are an absolute shambles. Anybody who knows me will know that last season I would have sacked the whole job lot from John Ward right down to Phil Kite and started again and unfortunately after today I feel no different. A punchless attack,a non existent midfield and a back four who allow their opponents to drift away from them and then behind them I see Mildenhall who it would not surprise me if a transfer request was put in because like us,he has to watch the disorganisation in front of him. I won't even bother to try to offer marks for the players today because in truth they just don't deserve it and neither does the Management team or put it that way the missing directors/Board. Wouldn't know where to start to name a team for tuesday. We went a long way for nothing!!! Sad to say but on todays performance very few of the players look up to Conference standard and neither does the Manager and his coaching team.

DC was a joke appointment as assistant manager let alone manager. The circumstances that led to him getting the job were a farce and he is only still in it because the board have had so much stick for sacking managers that they are hoping by some miracle sticking with one pays off. The team and tactics are poor and the style of football embarrassing.

We were trying to think of positives on the way out of the ground, and the only one I can think of is that last season, you pretty much knew the game was over when we went 1-0 down, but this season we keep trying until the 2nd goes in !

My hope is, that by the time we play Eastleigh, just as their 3rd hits the back of the net, I will be able to shout 'Come on Gas, we're still in this!'

Morning Mark - yes by 9:52pm I had been 'over-served' and was still wound up and angry about the game. A minor miracle I was able to type without making numerous mistakes. Agree Monkhouse would be better in the middle. Drop Clarke and start with Sinclair on the flank? I saw the Halifax game and agree we passed it well first half and fell apart second half. So it was similar at Braintree. For the first 30 minutes we looked the better side and passed it well. But the referee was determined to give Braintree a goal head-start. I think the players heads dropped soon after the soft penalty. Second half we were very very poor. We abandoned passing. Long hoofs up to Cunnington / White were not working. So let's have Plan B. Long hoofs up to Brunt / Taylor that also did not work. Awful to watch. 2nd half at Braintree was as bad as the 1st half at Barnet. Have a horrible feeling that DC is well and truly out of his depth.

Sadly the whole club seems out of his depth even at Conference level, perhaps the Buckle comments about lowering our expectations was made after he saw what a mess the club were after he arrived, you can't really see how things can ever be turned around whilst NH remains in control.
