Well Gasheads, several fans from non league clubs and former non league clubs came onto this forum before the seasaon started to warn us we would struggle to adapt to this league. They spoke from experience so why is everyone so shocked we are struggling down here in non league football?
I for one was hoping we could buck the trend of relegated teams struggling in the conference in recent years but thats all it was, a desperate hope.
Its difficult to keep the faith and today's experience was as low as it has got (but we are probably not rock bottom yet) - the ground was so tiny you could actually hear what the players were shouting to each other down the opposite end of the pitch. No atmosphere, s**te football, s**te ground, depressing place all round.
As a lifelong Gashead for over 40 years I am really struggling to keep the faith. That was a real kick in the teeth today and another large dose of harsh reality.
Can we fast forward 5 years by which time we may have manged to climb out of this god awful league?

Or climb down out of it which may be the case while idiots continue to run the football club.

Wrexham, Grimsby and Lincoln certainly have not been perennial top conference teams.

It seems the only idiots who didn't understand the battle they would face are the 11 in blue & white shirts each match day. Why DC didn't transfer list all last season's players, bar Lockyer & Mildenhall, is beyond me as the rest clearly don't have the bottle for the fight.

the funny thing is is that we have done nearly all the things those fans told us to do / told us to expect.
we haven't gone for journeymen / higher lge players. we have tried to get rid of as many big earners as we could we haven't gone in to games thinking we were bertie big bollocks we have tried to keep expectations realistic we haven't tried to deny where we are or how we got here
yet we are still poor. so far. VERY long way to go yet. cambridge utd played 60 games last season. we've played 7.
the obvious problem has been recruitment, goalscorers and a very thin squad.

Iirc, Lincoln, Luton and Grimsby.

we have tried to keep expectations realistic I guess expecting better than losses away to Altrincham and Braintree isn't realistic enough.
