There is more to running a football club than picking managers - you have to pick managers who fit within a long term vision for the club. Unfortunately there isn't one and hasn't been for years, Rovers have no footballing identity.

I understand what you are saying and with some previous managers we should never have parted company. Managers with experience, contacts and a blueprint as to how they want to play. DC has none of these. I would love DC, a young English manager, to succeed however he has no idea of how he wants his team to play. I don't care if it's defensive, long ball, direct (built around a target man like Lambert), passing and possession, wing play, attacking,.... The list goes on but we have NO BLUEPRINT AS TO HOW WE ARE GOING TO PLAY. All teams who succeed, and I'm not just talking premiership, have a style/idea/blueprint/direction. This should be drilled in training and executed on pitch. I wouldn't mind this start to the season if I could see a pattern in our play but I just can't. This is what worries me about DC. Believe me I'm no fan of the board but no shots on target is not the fault of the board; that is a team setup problem.

Good post Gassed - thanks. But ultimately the board choose the manager.....and I would not even put them in charge of a school fair at the moment - they should hold their hands up and employ someone who has a track record of working in the footy league (Non League) and knows the system....call it a CEO.....

Rovers/Higgs should have made a statement at the beginning reminding the supporters that Clarke will make mistakes as he is learning as a novice football manager. And will be given time. Also they should have come clean regarding his budget and that there is no quick fix as the wallet is firmly shut. This is the precise reason Clarke is facing a job no other Rovers manager has ever faced before. No one likes the position we are in but if Clarke goes then the next man won't last much longer. Unless a few million drops from the magical money tree. Just think back to the Ward fiasco,it tells it's own story.

Many on this forum have championed Gary Johnson as the next messiah.
If he turns up 15 minutes before kick off as a protest against the Yeovil BoDs lack of transfer funding, we wouldn't see him until after half time if he replaced DC.
