South Africa rest Marizanne Kapp for T20 series with England..by Mike Peter, BBC Sport Journalisti.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/07/22/80987345-13058137-image-a-3_1707343699109.jpgWorld Cup finalists South Africa have rested all-rounder Marizanne Kapp for their upcoming T20 series with England. The Proteas are set to host Heather Knight's side from 24th November for ODI and T20 series, each comprising three matches, followed by a one-off Test match. Kapp, 34, will return for the 50-over matches, while a squad for the Test will be named at a later date. The T20 series is South Africa's first outing since they lost the World Cup final to New Zealand last month, and their selectors have added all-rounders Eliz-Mari Marx and Nondumiso Shangase, and batter Faye Tunnicliffe, to their tournament squad. Seamer Ayabonga Khaka has also been rested, all-rounder Seshnie Naidu will miss the series for school exams, while wicketkeeper Mieke de Ridder has been omitted. It will be England's first series since they were eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage, and the tourists have dropped all-rounder Alice Capsey for the Test and T20 legs of the tour. She has been replaced by batter Paige Scholfield, who will be in contention for a third T20 cap in the series opener in East London - on the south-eastern coast of South Africa.

England recall Alice Capsey for T20s against South Africa..by BBC Sporti.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/12/05/10/78590683-12826995-image-a-6_1701772869327.jpgAll-rounder Alice Capsey has been recalled to England's T20 squad for their tour of South Africa, which begins on Sunday. England said the 20-year-old has been called up "due to a couple of minor injury concerns within the squad". Capsey was a high-profile omission from the T20s and Test squads for the tour when they were initially announced earlier this month, but she was included in the one-day team. She was part of the England side which suffered a group-stage exit from October's T20 World Cup. Capsey did not pass 20 runs in any of her three innings at the tournament in the United Arab Emirates. She has since been playing in the Women's Big Bash League for Melbourne Renegades, and took a five-wicket haul against Perth Scorchers before a first-ball duck in the same match this month. Speaking last week, England head coach Jon Lewis said Capsey was "trending in the wrong direction" and that they "need to have a little reset". "We've given her some really clear guidance on where we'd like her to improve and how we'd like her to play," added Lewis. "Alice is incredibly strong-willed and really determined to be the best player she can be. There's no doubt in my mind that over time, she will play lots and lots of games for England in all formats." England will play three T20s, three ODIs and a four-day Test on their tour of South Africa.

Paige Scholfield out of England T20 squad with injury..by BBC Sportwww.southeaststars.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/paige-schofield-min-756x1024.jpgBatter Paige Scholfield has been withdrawn from England's T20 squad for their tour of South Africa because of an ankle injury. England said the 28-year-old was injured during a training session on Tuesday. "Following further assessment, she will now return to the UK to begin her rehabilitation," the team said. Scholfield was a surprise selection in the T20 squad ahead of Alice Capsey as England made changes after a group-stage exit from October's T20 World Cup. She made her ODI and T20 debuts against Ireland in September and also featured for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred this year. Capsey, meanwhile, was recalled to the T20 squad on Monday "due to a couple of minor injury concerns within the squad". England will play the first of the three T20s against South Africa on Sunday. The tour also includes three ODIs and a four-day Test.
