The draw for the first round of this season's FA Cup takes place live on BBC Two on Monday, with Hednesford Town the lowest ranked club left in the competition. Eighth-tier Hednesford held National League Gateshead to a 1-1 draw to earn a fourth qualifying round replay in the north east of England on Tuesday. It means the Staffordshire club, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One West, will join teams such as League One leaders Birmingham City and four-time winners Bolton Wanderers in the draw. The draw takes place at Bradford City's Valley Parade ground. Kelly Somers presents live coverage from 7pm and will be joined by former Bradford City player and manager Stuart McCall as well as Danny Webber, who played in the Premier League with Sheffield United and Portsmouth. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/55/FA_Cup_2020.png/170px-FA_Cup_2020.png

Match report by Owen Phillips, BBC SportNon-league part-timers Tamworth caused an almighty FA Cup upset to dump League One promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town out in the first round. National League Tamworth, who are 57 places below the Terriers in the English football pyramid, played with predictable passion and commitment and earned a famous cup win when a trademark long throw-in from Tom Tonks sailed into the net via the gloves of under-pressure keeper Chris Maxwell on 44 minutes. Huddersfield never looked comfortable dealing with the direct ball hurled into the box, but Tamworth also mixed up their approach, showing some impressive quality and more than matching their opponents in both spirit and work-rate. Tamworth keeper Jas Singh had to make a couple of fine stops, notably a breathtaking close-range block with his legs from Tom Iorpenda. But the Town threat was minimal and sporadic - particularly in the second half - and the hosts, 16th in the National League, had surprisingly little trouble in seeing out the win on their first appearance in the first round proper since 2014.

www.hartsnottingham.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/county.jpg
Match report by PA MediaNotts County came from behind to avoid an FA Cup upset as they beat Alfreton 5-1. Alassana Jatta and Jevani Brown both scored twice in the second half as County progressed to round two despite Liam Waldock giving the visitors an early lead at Meadow Lane. Jake Day missed an early chance for the National League North side when his volley was held by Alex Bass. The away side took a 14th-minute lead when Day's shot deflected through to Waldock, who fired home. County levelled two minutes later as a long-range effort from Matty Platt found the bottom corner. The League Two side took the lead early in the second half when Brown fired across for Jatta to score. The two combined once more in the 62nd minute when Jatta slid the ball beneath George Willis to net his second. Brown converted from the penalty spot with five minutes remaining after Ryley Reynolds was fouled in the box and completed his brace in the closing stages after Kellan Gordon’s shot was saved and deflected into his path.

Wrexham are also 1st round victims to the giant killers of Harrogate, James Bellshaw,he too previously of this parish pulling off one excellent save to deny Wrexham striker Dobson the chance of an equaliser, but not to be, So Harrogate go into this evenings 2nd round draw, takes place during the cup highlights programme on the BBC and will be taking place around 7:45 pm

FA Cup First Round Result
Monday 4th November 2024
Chesham United 0 Lincoln City 4
Venue: The Meadow - Attendance: 3,963
Match report by Ben Miller, BBC Sport
League One promotion hopefuls Lincoln City scored three second-half goals to seal an emphatic FA Cup first-round win and end sixth-tier hosts Chesham United’s five-match run in this season’s competition.
Aiming to emulate their shock win over Bristol Rovers in 2015, the National League South club looked comfortable for much of the first half before Lincoln midfielder Jack Moylan curled in from a tight angle to break the deadlock a minute before the break.
The 76-place gap between the teams in the football pyramid showed during the second half as Lincoln controlled much of the play, punishing Chesham when they were afforded space to shoot in front of a lively home crowd at The Meadow, where National League side Yeovil Town fell in the previous round.
Lincoln entered the final tie of the round on a two-match winning run and manager Michael Skubala is entitled to be highly satisfied with their resolve and potency during an awkward contest that was occasionally halted by blue flares on the pitch.
Neither side had produced a shot on target before Moylan arrowed an eye-catching first-time effort towards goal from just beyond the halfway line in the 32nd minute, sending goalkeeper Ben Goode backpedalling to catch the audacious attempt.
Visiting number one George Wickens produced the best save of the half soon afterwards, clawing Nathan Minhas’ header from Samson Esan’s inviting cross away to the relief of a defence unsettled by a long throw-in.
FA Cup debutant Moylan's moment of magic changed the course of the game, twisting to deceive T'Sharne Gallimore and find the far corner of the net in precise fashion for his first goal since August.
