]As stated in my very first post, all stats are since WW2, it just seemed easier as details pre 1939 are sometimes opaque...[/quote]
It is far from opaque I totally diasagree just like many assume football did not Starr till 1992 when the premier league was formed.
Rovers started in 1883 and all its players biographies are on the Bristol Rovers History Group website so go look and learn. Report back by Monday or its detention for you.
You might like to check out Billy Beats Sid Leigh,Frank Curran Vic Lambden Harold Jarman, Ian Hamilton and David Williams records.

What is quite clear and visible is David Williams and Harold Jarman are both midfielders and not strikers/forwards (detention for you on monday) Also Vic Lambden and Ian Hamilton are both actually on the list already (detention for you on tuesday) Billy Beats - Played 94, Goals 44 = 0.468 (All his games for BRFC were in non-league) Syd Leigh - Played 68, Goals 36 = 0.529 (He was the first player to score four goals in a League game for BRFC) Frank Curran - Played 37, Goals 24 = 0.648 (Frank was an inside-forward, not a direct striker/forward) All three above would not have made the main list, but a special mention on the under 100 games list...

Not sure about this BT, Harold Jarman was a winger which in those days was a forward, not long afterwards wingers seem to be classed as midfielders...Wareham mentioned Rovers promotion midfield,Dobson,Stanton,Prince,Stephens, Dobson and Stephens being what i would have called wingers perhaps now they would be called wide midfield players ? I dont disagree with you that Harold Jarman wasnt a striker which I would say meant centre forward or inside forward, he did weigh in with a good few goals though, David Williams as you say definitely a midfield player, probably one of Rovers best ever midfield players.

Thanks for the reasoned reply, anyway Harold Jarman still about at 85 was also a fine cricketer for Gloucestershire, has BRFC stats of: Played 512, Goals 145 = 0.283. So here are a few of our best goalscoring midfielders stats: David Mehew: Played 222, Goals 63 = 0.283 David Williams: Played 352, Goals 66 = 0.187 Ian Holloway: Played 397, Goals 42 = 0.105
