I never said anything about you lying. No, you said that 'this opening post was probably instigated by his side' when it clearly states that we 'have received a number of messages recently relating to debate on this section of the forum, from various sides of the political spectrum'. Thereby intimating that what I had stated was 'probably' incorrect..... It was not 'probably' instigated by one individual or side. Again,I never said that you were lying so please stop trying to quote me as if I did. I suggested it was probably 'instigated' by his side.. (and you said that you had received msg from all sides so there is an element of truth there) that he.. Mr Accuser or someone else on the left side of any discussion did, just like someone from on the right has? You have stated that it wasn't him, therefore and I will take you at your word for it as there is nothing to suggest otherwise. To finish,I still never said that you lied tho. |

I dont know I was hoping that you would tell me,I always say on the thread when I am making a complaint. I mean you dont have to tell us ,if you want to keep your complaints to the mods anonymous thats your prerogative. All complaints that are made are kept confidential, whoever from. |

Exactly, I suggested that Oldie may have instigated this, as the opening post in this thread said about name calling and insults ( he always uses the name calling victim card in arguments on here..). See I've personally over the past few weeks started calling him "The Accuser" as that is what he did to me.He said I did something that I never,and doubled down on it when I asked for him to prove what he suggested I did, but then decided to ignore the question.If he had admitted he was mistaken,or proved this accusation said about me then I would not call him "The Accuser'. This is not bullying, it's light humour as a slight reward for myself for being Slandered on here for something I didn't do. I also think suggesting,or wanting people to not respond to a post by using the word, bollox,or anything as simple or similar is silly, as it's a choice of language that maybe useful at that time. This section of the forum should be free from Political correctness,and restrictions on speech apart from personal attacks or threats of violence against one another. We are all grown ups here. |

I laud and applaud your openness and willingness to share why you would be complaining about an individual. The complaints we have received in the past about this part of the forum have related to attacking the person rather than addressing the post; offensive or abusive language; name calling [often petty]; comments potentially breaking forum rules; trolling; hate speech; racist, misogynistic, or homophobic language; amongst others! As moderators we recognise that people want to have discussions about a wide range of subjects. However this is the part of the forum that causes us most headaches, and we have come close on a number of occasions to closing this part altogether. That is why we plead for people to discuss the topics, but to recognise that we all have differing opinions and often they will not agree with our own. Even the moderators as individuals have varying opinions from one another but treat each other with due respect. We just ask others to do the same. Regards |

I would suggest that this section of the forum has become a lot more balanced in the last few months.
We all have different opinions and it's never going to be a comfortable ride, but contributions appear from all parts of the political spectrum, as they do in life.
I'm sure some don't like that, but it makes for a more interesting read and a more realistic reflection of our society.

The threat to close was due to numerous posts being reported for abuse, personal insults, and some posters pushing the limit on what could be said which were considered to be close to breaking the platform rules and leave the admin open to litigation. I agree it has calmed down although some posters still push the boundaries on personal insults. |
