LONDON — A Labour MP has been accused of multiple incidents of inappropriate behavior toward junior female colleagues over a long career in British politics. Five women said that Geraint Davies, a former House of Commons select committee chair who was first elected in 1997, subjected them to unwanted sexual attention, both physical and verbal, after coming into contact with them through his work as an MP. Many of the alleged incidents took place on the parliamentary estate, sometimes in bars or after late-night votes. One of the women he allegedly targeted was just 19 years old at the time.

I see we have another "brain dump" (not convinced the use of the word brain is appropriate) and another copy and paste word salad. Any chance we could have a separate section where Ltd's posts are quarantined?

People aren't anti Starmer, they're against being lied to and blatant displays of hypocrisy.
As it stands he's not doing too well there, on top of that its pretty clear they've got no real policies. Worse still he's arrogant.
The Alli stuff might not be pathetic if Starmer has broken electroal law. Sure, government isn't going to explode but frankly he's msde a complete pigs ear of, well, everyhing since walking in to No 10.
Suggesting that everything going on should just be ignored is hardly a sensible outlook is it.

Keir Starmer to meet Donald Trump for the first time..by Chris Mason, Political editori2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article33756921.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/2_UK-Prime-Minister-Attends-the-79th-United-Nations-General-Assembly.jpgThe Prime Minister will meet former President Donald Trump later. It will be the first time Sir Keir Starmer has met the Republican candidate for US President. Sir Keir is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, but will make time to meet Trump at his New York base - Trump Tower. The prime minister said it was “good” he had the opportunity to meet the Republican presidential nominee and that it was “really to establish a relationship between the two of us”. Sir Keir will not meet the Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, on this trip. They have not met before either. He has previously said he would like to see both candidates ahead of the US presidential election on 5th November. The prime minister said he “obviously” still wants to speak to Vice-President Kamala Harris, but that there were the “usual diary challenges”. He added: “I'm a great believer in personal relations on the international stage. I think it really matters that you know who your counterpart is in any given country, and know them personally, get to know them face to face.” Harris is in Washington for talks alongside President Joe Biden with President Volodymyr Zelensky, as a row between the Ukrainian leader and the Trump campaign escalated. Republicans have reacted angrily to the Ukrainian president's decision to visit an arms factory in the US president's hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, with several top Democrats, and it now appears Zelensky will not meet Trump as had been expected. When asked by reporters if a Donald Trump presidency would leave the UK more exposed on the global stage when it comes to support for Ukraine, the prime minister said: “The first thing I think is important to say in relation to this is we've obviously had a special relationship with the US for a long time, forged in really difficult circumstances. "That always sits above whoever holds the particular office, either in the US or the UK.” He said the relationship was probably as "as strong now as it's ever been" in relation to the Middle East and Ukraine". Starmer added: "The US people will decide who they want as their president, and we will work with whoever is resident, as you would expect. I’m not going to speculate on what any particular issues may be the other side of the election.”

Keir Starmer calls for end to 'devastating cycle of violence' as UK backs push for ceasefire in Lebanon..by Lizzy Buchan, Political Editor
i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article33753712.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_Starmer-visit-to-New-York.jpg Keir Starmer travelled to the UN in New York for a diplomatic push over conflicts in the Middle East, Ukraine and Sudan Keir Starmer tonight called for an end to the “devastating cycle of violence” in the Middle East as the UK backed a high-stakes push for a ceasefire in Lebanon. In his first address to the UN General Assembly in New York, the Prime Minister said Israel and Hezbollah must “step back from the brink” to prevent all-out war. The UK joined allies including the US and the EU to demand a 21-day ceasefire in Lebanon to give space to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict. A joint statement said: "The situation between Lebanon and Israel since October 8th, 2023 is intolerable and presents an unacceptable risk of a broader regional escalation. This is in nobody's interest, neither of the people of Israel nor of the people of Lebanon." But Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said his military would continue to strike Hezbollah with “full force” as he touched down in New York. The UK has been part of intense diplomatic efforts to stem the conflict as Mr Starmer made his first visit to the UN as Prime Minister. In a direct address to Israel and Hezbollah, Mr Starmer said: “Stop the violence. Step back from the brink. “We need to see an immediate ceasefire to provide space for a diplomatic settlement and we are working with all partners to that end. Because further escalation serves no one. “It offers nothing but more suffering for innocent people on all sides and the prospect of a wider war that no one can control. And with consequences that none of us can foresee.” The PM called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, adding: “It shames us all that the suffering in Gaza continues to grow.” He went on: “The answer is diplomacy. The release of all the hostages. “And the unfettered flow of aid to those in need. That is the only way to break this devastating cycle of violence.” It comes as the Israel Defence Forces said the head of one of Hezbollah's air units was killed in a strike on a southern suburb in Beirut. In a post published on X, the IDF said "fighter jets attacked Beirut and killed Mohammad Hussein Surur". The IDF said Surur had joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and "directed and commanded" many drone attacks aimed at Israel. It has been 24 years since the Israeli army left southern Lebanon, ending 22 years of occupation. British nationals have been urged to leave Lebanon while there are still commercial flights, with around 4,000 to 6,000 Brits believed to be still in the country. The Prime Minister has urged people to leave immediately and the UK has deployed 700 troops to nearby Cyprus to assist with evacuation if necessary. Downing Street said the UK stands ready to ramp up contingency plans to get Brits out if the situation deteriorates. Mr Starmer told journalists this week: “Yes, we are ramping up the contingency plans, I think that you would expect that in light of the escalation. But it is important that we be really, really clear: now is the time to leave."

Oddly, a bit like yourself. Are you in any way related?

I couldnt work out if Starmer was arrogant, out of touch or inept, after listening to him on the radio this week i realised that he is all of them. I did agree when he said that due to security concerns he couldnt sit in the stand at Arsenal and he has been invited to sit in the directors box, fair enough but he could have made a donation to an ex players charity FFS the blokes a multi millionaire....greed. Rayner said that politicians have been getting gifts for years, she meant that its labours turn at the trough now, they are just like pigs fighting their way to the feeding trough yet they said that they were going to be different...change...just a new lot of piggies. I wonder what this benevolent lord alli gets out of giving out these gifts ?

"I did agree when he said that due to security concerns he couldnt sit in the stand at Arsenal and he has been invited to sit in the directors box" - Sunak used to sit in the stands at Southampton with only two security guys.
