Does anyone else feel this way?
It's going to be 25 years soon since the last time that we were above 82 franchise in league football.
They have progressed and become a stable, championship side and grown there fanbase and even tho I don't like um..fair play.
When they were in L1/old division 3 during the 90s - 2008 they got gates between 8k - 13k avg, but now they have tapped into some of Bristols potential and are getting 20k each week.
I bring this up as I honestly now feel no connection to this club.It feels soul less to me.
Years ago I knew each of there players, Taylor,Carey, Murray etc... I listened to Radio Bristol commentary of us waiting for an update if they lost.If I ever saw a City fan in there shirt I would always thinking "s**thead..s**thead"..🖕💩
At games, I used to always join in with anti city songs etc, and loved the football hatred towards them, now I kinda feel nothing... I dislike um, but not like before.Really I couldn't careless.
The last time I think I felt that was the last time we played in the LDV in what 2015? When we lost at Ashton.
My best mates a life long s**thead and try's to banter with me along with other city fans I know, but I just feel ..meh about it now .
It kinda makes me feel sad..
I honestly don't follow what they do in anyway, and certainly don't know even one of there players,or many from the last 10 years.
I think it's because we don't play them now, the overuse of social media instead of reading the green un, listening to Twentyman, or watching midweek highlights on HTV..
All the above is down to us as a club not them..They have progressed, and all the talk of mind the gap I always felt abit over the top as it's just one league, but the connection that I have with that club is not longer there,I just don't care about them.

I always wonder where they would be now & what Ashton gate would look like, if they hadn’t struck gold by getting Steve Lansdown onboard?

They've done very nicely with him. We've done worse with ours.

Looking at their stadium and our modest new stand still not fully completed,it illustrates the gulf between us.However, even when we visited Alfreton and Braintree,I never lost my passion for the Gas and dislike for the other lot.

Despite what he has ploughed into the B&Q ,they are still big bucks away from the Pl,the cushion payout from relegated PL teams makes it that much harder, moreso with those yo yo clubs ......IF ...they made it, he ..panstdown would get the greatest amount of his investment back overnight ....IF.

Blimey icegas, you started a thread about losing interest in Rovers now started one about losing interest in the other lot. It’s a tad depressing. You’re not meant to have any interest in that lot. Just go for pure disinterest it will serve you well, Perhaps it will seem better season after next when we play them in the league. 😉 UTG!

City may only be one division above us,but "the gap" is huge.
Compare virtually every aspect of professional football between Red and Blue and Red comes out on top
Watching an England game the other day,at a mates house in Fishponds. His lad told me his Fishponds Primary School was all City.
The rivalry is dieing because City are so far ahead, that Rovers are no longer considered serious rivals.
Things can change but at this time,I see no evidence of that happening anytime soon.
Rovers also play 'lower league football' ( now J oseph has gone).
City i assume pass the ball from the back.

Agree, The only way we will get to play them in league football is their relegation, or the lottery of a cup draw...

We always have in recent years, nothing to do with JB and it wasn’t going to change under him. UTG!

I think I'd be slightly more content staying in the third divison if BCFC1982 were in it also. I don't hate them, I just want to see Rovers beat them in the league and cups.

Yes bas, I know what passing football is! 😉 The trouble was, and you’re more right than you realise, it was GK to defender and usually back again. Just a shame the passing didn’t involve moving forwards to attackers because they didn't receive as many passes as they should have. Anyone can pass the ball between GK and defenders within your own half and get good possession stats, most teams allow you to do that. It’s turning the passing into an attacking game that we weren’t so good at. Seriously though we did have some very good attacking football under JB. He found it harder to achieve in L1 because it’s a harder league. And come the end his body language gave him away, the players had stopped playing for him and it was inevitable what happened. I hope MT can recruit some players who will enable the club to play good football, get decent results and even make a challenge at the play-offs. The club have made a good start but that’s all, new attacking players needed and they’re usually the hardest to find. Fingers crossed. UTG!
