Bristol Rovers have rejected a bid from Huddersfield Town for Antony Evans, Bristol Live understands, with the midfielder set to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
Evans was named the Gas' Player of the Year last season after scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in 52 appearances, the highest total of games played by anyone in the Rovers squad.
Not only did the 25-year-old top the charts for minutes played and appearances made but he was the most consistent performer at the club during a season where numerous individuals struggled for any sort of consistency.
However, it's no secret that the Gas are in a challenging position given the fact that Evans now has a year left on his contract and has seemingly made it clear that he won't be signing a new deal, despite offers being made.
Last season's League One winners Portsmouth have been previously linked with a move for the midfielder as they prepare for the Championship, however it appears as though recently-relegated Huddersfield have made the first move as they look to build a team capable of an immediate return to the second tier.
Managed by former Swansea City, Barnsley and Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff, the Terriers have already made a strong start to the summer by signing highly-rated wing-back Lasse Sorensen from Lincoln City and are expected to be firmly in the promotion mix.
