Just a quick one ..
Has anyone experienced the seemingly, forced idea of a cashless society upon us recently? And when I said recently, over the past few years?
Twice in the past 24hrs I have tried to pay with cash but have been refused, and asked or....really told, that service would not be given unless I paid with card.I had both btw...
The last was this afternoon in the pub opposite Temple meads called the sidings.. When I asked the university student why,he said I dont know but it's clearly for the best...🤪🥴🤡

If you run a customer facing business, card transactions are so much better for security and sales reconciliation. It's all about card fees charged by the provider and speed of credit. The vast majority of people have chip and pin or contactless cards these days.

We still draw cash from bank & pay c.tax , shopping, fuel etc by cash . It was recently chaos at Leicester hospital as the parking machines are cash only , me & mrs must of been the only ones with cash 😂😂😂😂, the rest got directed about a mile down the road through the pouring rain to apparently a office where you could pay by card 😂😂 Lot of coffee m/c at factories I goto are still Cash , my mate said can I borrow 30 p , no 😂 I personally wouldn’t go out without cash , and we save all the 20 p & take the little girl up the road ( dad left ) & mum has no money down to sains cash converter then take her to the local toy shop & treat her .

I have never understood why anyone would take two transactions to pay for a product or service. As for Council Tax, doesn't paying cash entail a trip the Council office to pay in cash? Why not go direct debit? Absolutely bonkers in my opinion

You also don’t get cash declined , bloke the other week had this paying for fuel , kept declining his card , no idea what happened as I went , I paid cash so had no issues . You probably know more than me but what happens if you loose your card and some undesirable gets hold of it , I assume he can tap it until you report it stolen , what happens if you don’t realise for hours / days ? As I say we try to pay for everything by cash / not card , we have cards but rarely use them

I've used the line " I'm good with cash" and this usually does the trick.

Absolutely bonkers in my opinion You can pay at any post office , WH Smith , coop etc , I pay by c/ tax card instead of d/d as I pay extra every month so I’m done in 7/8 months not 10 . We did the same with mortgage , we had a payment booklet , I’d pay extra every month so was finished 10 yrs apx early , whereas if I’d of listen to nationwide and had a direct debit I’d of been paying the full 25 yrs I do the same with w/ rates , pay extra on it every month so am finished months early.

This was one of the biggest changes that I noticed when I returned to live in the UK.I In my opinion this is all part of the drive towards a digital currency which I feel is dangerous.

When you have to pay £2;40 by card for a cup of coffee ( take out the card fee) then there ain't a lot in it for the retailer.pay by cash..as offered... they get the lot!! I do wonder if those children around 5-6 and younger will ever use cash all about control....the " chip in your arm" at birth scenario ain't that far away

I have thought that since about the 1990's taking DNA samples at birth would abet the police so much more when the database is of everyone. There will be human rights complaints and it will all be wrapped up in controversy and outrage all over the UK. If it keeps crime down in any way i am for it, if you lead a clean life then you have nothing to hide or worry about. DNA profiling has been improving every year over it's 40 year life span and IMO can only be a good thing...

This is why I bring this up..I would also add that maybe its pushing toward a global currency and a Global Government? Its not conspiracy to suggest this given what's happened over the past few decades.
