I suppose they'll be big favourites to win the 3rd tier.
After sacking ' doing a good job' John Eustace for ' big name but as it turned out abject failiure' Wayne Rooney, the Blues board got what they deserved.

Probably went to the last Rovers v Blues game at St Andrews, there was a 100mph wind blowing the length of the pitch, Blues had it first half and went in 2-0 up, the wind did not let up and the game finished 2-2 , probably not there now but it was a tricky exit across some waste ground behind the away end !!

Ipswich.
8 of the starting squad that secured promotion today started in the game that secured promotion last year.
That's sensational management.

Remember playing them at eastville , must of been late 80,s September 85 we lost 3-2? The "Cashley must go" Cup defeat? I'll expand on that, just incase I can jolt a memory or two and prove to myself mine is'nt completely shot.🙂 Ray let in a speculative long shot, near the ft whistle I suspect and we got knocked out the FA Cup.2 3. As the players left the field,a huge unforgiving and really quite ruthless chant went up,"CASHLEY MUST GO"! Ray was gone within half a dozen games, again if memory serves.

Yep we deserved to win that game but if memory, a dirty word at my age, serves the ball hit the underside of the crossbar and ricocheted into the net off Cashley’s back.

Worse was to come - Jason Dozzell spotted the woeful Cashley off his line and hit a speculative shot from about 45 yards over the top of him and as knobrot described in off the crossbar and Cashley’s back. Cashley was truly awful for us and the worst goalkeeper we’ve had in the 54 yrs I've been a gashead

I was also at this one too. Martin Thomas was in goal for them. Probably my favourite ever keeper and a total travesty that he waskept out of theWelsh team by the f**king useless Dai Davies. Total contrast to Cashley as well. He did make an error in this game to gift us one of our goals - cue chants of Thomas is a gashead, la la la la…….

Think I remember seeing a similar occasion v Ipswich though.

Remember a 1-1 with this lot at Twerton when they were in what was then D3 and managed by Bazza Fry.
They came to Bath top of the table and had Ricky Otto and Kev Francis, doing his inimitable impression of a giraffe who would be happier trotting around a wildlife reserve who had been coerced into playing professional football. Ian Bennett gifted us a goal by allowing the ball to run under his foot. Can't remember their goal but do remember that they had an offensively large squad, gargantuan by the standards of the time, which would be considered offensively large even today.
As one fan walked out before full-time, Brum fans launched up "what a f******g s*ithole," to which the Rovers fan deliciously responded by screaming 'so is Birmingham'-he was almost directly in front of them and there was no way that they could not have received his offering.
After an initial flirtation with adding Birmingham FC to the list of clubs who have no business being in this league and who are only here because of grotesque mismanagement, I decided that, compared to the other clubs that have 'slummed' it at this level, they aren't that big and have no right to expect an instant return on the model of a Leicester or Norwich. Why would they when substantially bigger clubs (Sunderland, Derby) have failed to do this? However, the entrenched advantage of having a championship squad will virtually ensure a top-six place next May.
Astonishingly Rooney has somehow landed another job at championship level. Meanwhile, Alan Curbishley, who effectively turned water into wine at Charlton FC, has not been a football manager since 2008, despite being viewed (by me) as a potential future England manager in his time at the Valley. Confused? You should be.

Blues will be 'big fish in pond', warns boss Chris Davies..by Ged Scott and Richard Wilford, BBC Sport England and BBC Radio WM.i2-prod.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/incoming/article29609196.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-2163519902.jpgBirmingham City boss Chris Davies has warned that the challenge of winning promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt is not going to be easy. On the back of eight close-season signings, half of them for seven-figure sums, Blues have been swiftly installed as favourites to win League One and bounce straight back from relegation in May. Davies knows that American-owned Blues' summer spending will be envied, unpopular - and make them there to be shot at. "If anyone thinks it's going to be easy, whether that's player or fans, they don't understand the challenge. There have been some big clubs in League One who have struggled to get out," he told BBC Radio WM. "We want to get out of this division as fast as we can but it's going to take a huge effort. What we have to prepare for is being seen as the big fish in the pond. A lot of teams who play us will see a 0-0 as a good result, especially at our home stadium. "I've been used to working for clubs with high expectancy, I know what it feels like," said the former Liverpool, Celtic and Tottenham assistant manager. "I've been at Liverpool, at Spurs, and you certainly don't get any more intensity than working in a football city like Glasgow. We need to... have the humility to recognise the challenges that need to be faced." i2-prod.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article29609256.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-2163519687.jpgSpeaking to BBC Radio WM, in an hour-long interview - to be played out on air at 18:00 BST on Friday - Davies explained how delighted he has been with the public response to his appointment in early June, and the work that has been done since. Blues have sold 17,000 season tickets - and had 20,000 fans, including 7,000 from Glasgow, watching last week's pre-season visit of Rangers for the Trevor Francis Memorial Match. "It was a special night for my first game at the stadium," Davies said. "I've been humbled by the response to me. There won't be many clubs that get relegated and have this amount of excitement about a new season. But one of the reasons I joined the club was the Blues fans and what it means to them. "They are backing us and we need to repay their faith. But the way the owners are investing tells you everything about the direction the club is going in. "It's all very well having ambition but it also needs processes and people to put it into place. Once I'd met people like Tom Wagner, Tom Brady, Craig Gardner and Garry Cook, it already looked a very well organised club that was just looking for somebody to come in and lead it."

You only have to look at this bristolroversmemorabilia.weebly.com/1984-85.html it's littered with Cashley errors it's a crying shame because that was such a good Rovers Team, as I recall it was something like 15 players used all season, we fell away after Xmas (again) when David Williams was injured. I could name that team from memory and you could nominate at least 4 of them for an all time team.
