There was something called the GasList (I think). Would have been over 20 years ago. It was more like a message board if my memory serves me correctly. I remember I was logged into it at Bloomberg... there was problem with the server and it was spewing out hundreds of repeat messages, that were then spewing into my inbox. I was told in no uncertain terms never, ever to log into it ever again. So I didn't. Yes,Gaslist not Gasmail. In fact thinking about it, my time line is wrong. I first used the GasList in the early days. To pass 'the test' you had to write about your favourite Rovers game. I chose the stirring Rovers 3 Ipswich 3 from the opening game of the 1991-2 season and typed everything in UPPER CASE. Electronic messaging was still in its relative infancy. Must have been around 1994-97. On contributing to the GasList I was told the error of my ways. But I was still using it in the early 00's... |

I echo the sentiments expressing thanks to Epping, and Jeff before him, for keeping this forum going. Although it may only need about an hour a week to moderate that’s still quite a commitment and responsibility which someone has to take and in return there should at least be the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping increase the enjoyment which a small group of fans get from following Rovers. But the lack of traffic on here and the loss of many prolific posters has probably contributed to the indifference about all things Rovers which Epping and many of us feel. Even so it would still be sad to see this place cease to exist. I’d be willing to increase my posting rate to help stimulate more activity although members are quite at liberty to prevent this by pledging a small donation to the Community Trust  I am happy to come on here and argue with you once a week, if that would be helpful? Everyone consumes their Rovers in different way on different levels and to certain extent closer or further away to what suits them ...
I'm always sorry to see anyone go.
It's less traffic and another mind and soul to muse over their comments.
Admire and respect Eppers for the hard work, and mods for making this space available and appreciate all the hard work they've put in their own time and effort to get this place the way it is.
And this place is a good place, generally.
There's elements of respect there - sometimes - and the one thing that's brought us all together we can still agree or disagree on, let alone the politics and inuendo !?
I like this place!
I too, am happy to help fund.
I would preclude myself from anything in an official capacity but if we can't get there as a consensus, we can't get there, then let it die gracefully.
It's been a blast so far and I hope there is a future and anyone stepping up would get my support..

I remember an earlier interation of the forum on the rivals platform - each club had their own page within the Rivals umbrella. Pretty sure the initial Fans Forum match was also set up on that website - I played but some s**thead nicked my trainers left in the changing rooms. I remember that. Thank you for con'sole'ing me, pretty sure I asked my mum to pick me up in just my socks afterwards. They weren't even good trainers!! |

I won't use the other forum any way near as much. The contributions are more insightful and testing than the other place. I'm sure the other forum has an average younger age for both readership and contributions.
I like to think as this place as the Guardian compared to the other place as more News of the World. Both sources of bias information but this one has longer articles and bigger words!!

For exiled ( notts ) rovers supporters like me it would be a real shame if this board ceased as it’s my goto for rovers news ( banned from other one & didn’t like it anyway ) , but as much as it would be a shame you’ve goto do what’s right for you Epping , whatever your decision thanks for thanks for all you’ve done for me in the short time I’ve been on here , it really is much appreciated.
I can’t help you with admin , you know the issues I had with links , but I’m quite happy to pay towards the upkeep of the board if that helps

I guess what some people perceive as harmless banter, some people may perceive as deliberate attempts to wind others up. If anyone is out of line or breaks Forum rules, please hit the Report button and Mods will look into it. If the same person gets reported repeatedly. They tend to get banned. |

Something I love about this place is freedom of speech and tolerance of deviation. It's good to see banned gasheads return after their bans, which as far as I've ever known have been issued after warnings for breaking important rules, not for dissent nor for 'wrong' opinions. There will always be a gasheads.org for as long as I get a say.
