THU 21 MAR 2024 - EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYINGWales 4 Finland 1 ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/17AD2/production/_132987969_roberts.jpgWales will face Poland for a place at Euro 2024 after beating Finland convincingly in their play-off semi-final in Cardiff. David Brooks gave the home side the perfect start as he volleyed in on the rebound after Harry Wilson's shot was saved in the third minute. Finland controlled large spells of the first half and, although Neco Williams doubled Wales' lead with a beautiful curling free-kick, the visitors kept themselves in contention as Teemu Pukki finished calmly shortly before the break. Brennan Johnson settled any creeping Welsh nerves as he tapped in from Brooks' shot 90 seconds into the second half. Despite missing chances to add to their lead and having a Ben Davies goal disallowed, Robert Page's men were comfortable winners as substitute Dan James added a late fourth on his 50th cap. Wales can now turn their attention to Tuesday's play-off final against Poland, again played over one leg at Cardiff City Stadium, for the chance to qualify for a third successive European Championship.

Am going to the play off final. Wales v Poland. Around 30 coaches from Bristol, so far. Really looking forward to it

Dziękuję że po Polsku piszesz. Mam nadzieję że Polska wygrają ale to zależy na jaki wersji drożyną będzie na ten dzień bo mogą grać jak amatorze thanks for the effort in writing in Polish, the older I get, the easier it is for me to revert to the mother language. As I have written, the result all depends on which Poland turn up as they can play like amateurs with possession based football, with no end product. We have a good idea if that at Rovers 😂.

Better check what vaccinations you're going to need...

Better check what vaccinations you're going to need... Had a cracking day out. The atmosphere was so much more visceral than on TV and the Welsh were in fine voice, I just found it odd in hearing sings I have always assicuated with Rugby. I ended up at a house , full of Polish, close to Ponty and was back for 10 next day. There was an attempt at starting trouble but was dealt with quickly and those people ejected. It was a shame someone had to lose as Wales wanted it more and attacked. I honestly cannot remember a shot on target from Polska. I do not do international football so it was a new experience for me. I really enjoy Germany so may see if I can sort something. Lots of friends there so would be nice to meet them if I do go. Genuinely fantastic atmosphere, I got a bit choked up seeing a youngster in tears though. Horrible way to exit a tournament.
