Report By Ffion Wynne, BBC Sport.England cruised to a comfortable 27-run victory over New Zealand in the first T20 in Dunedin. Captain Heather Knight's classy 63 from just 39 balls led the visitors to 160-4 after losing the toss, supported by Maia Bouchier's unbeaten 43. White Ferns skipper Suzie Bates struck 65 in reply but struggled for middle order support as they were restricted to 133-5. Seamer Lauren Bell starred in England's dominant bowling performance with 2-29. England's victory was impressive in the absence of key players Nat Sciver-Brunt, Danni Wyatt, Sophie Ecclestone and Alice Capsey, who are missing the first three T20s because of the clash with the end of the Women's Premier League in India. Opener Tammy Beaumont returned to the XI after an absence of more than two years from the T20 side, managing 15 in her 100th match in the format. Fellow opener Sophia Dunkley added a dynamic 32 from 24 balls before an entertaining partnership of 91 between Knight and Bouchier propelled England to their competitive total. New Zealand fought admirably with the ball on a flat pitch but were let down in the field, with three dropped catches and a missed stumping. They were also without important players in usual captain Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr because of the WPL, and their absence piled the pressure on Bates in the chase as the rest of the line-up struggled to counter England's discipline in the middle overs. The second of five T20s takes place at the Saxton Oval in Nelson on Friday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1317E/production/_132960287_gettyimages-2095344440.jpg Suzie Bates shone with 65 in New Zealand's innings but struggled for support
Player of the match England's Heather Knight on TNT Sports: "It was quite tough to start, I felt like it was quite slow but once I got settled in, I felt in a really good place. I feel fresh mentally and physically after some time away so it's great to contribute. "The boundaries weren't easy to come by so our running between the wickets was important." New Zealand captain Suzie Bates on TNT Sports: "We started pretty well with the ball but they took it away from us in the middle overs. We didn't adjust quickly enough and there was a lot that we could learn from England's bowlers, because taking the pace off the ball worked really well for them."

Heather Knight's half-century helps tourists to 2-0 T20 series lead..By Callum Matthews, BBC Sport.England captain Heather Knight made another half-century as her side beat New Zealand by 15 runs in the second T20 to take a 2-0 series lead. England stumbled to 77-6 after being asked to bat but Knight, who made 56 not out, hauled England up to a competitive 149-7 in Nelson. New Zealand were 100-3 but the wicket of Amelia Kerr (44) started a collapse of five wickets for eight runs. They finished on 134-8 with Lauren Bell the pick of the bowlers with 2-24. All of England's frontline bowlers took a wicket, including left-arm spinner Linsey Smith having Suzie Bates caught at short fine leg with her first ball in international cricket since June 2019. England captain and player of the match Heather Knight: "I am really pleased because we were under the pump. They got away from us in the powerplay but the spin pulled it back for us. We won the game in the middle again. "I felt like I struggled to get going a little bit. I found it quite hard. I thought they bowled really well and they made it quite tricky for us. It was nice to hang in there and go hard at the end." New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "I thought we got ourselves into winning positions. We just missed a little bit at the end of the innings and again with the bat a great start and we let ourselves down in the middle. There are still some great positives to take. "They got 20-30 more runs than we would have liked but we're really confident in our batting group. We'll need to have some honest conversations."

New Zealand v England: Tourists collapse to hand White Ferns victory in third T20..By Matthew Henry, BBC Sport.A remarkable collapse from England handed New Zealand a dramatic three-run victory in the third T20 as the hosts kept the series alive in Nelson. England were cruising in pursuit of 156, needing only 29 runs from 29 balls with eight wickets left. But Maia Bouchier fell for 71 and England lost six for 25 when set for an unassailable 3-0 series lead. The tourists needed eight from the last over but Suzie Bates conceded only four and took two wickets. England's chase would have been the highest in T20s in New Zealand after Sophie Devine hit a 37-ball 60 in their 155-3, but it should have been well within them. New Zealand skipper Devine put on 99 from 68 with Amelia Kerr and was the bowler when Bouchier was caught to spark the turnaround. England will be boosted by the availability of Sophie Ecclestone, Danni Wyatt, Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt in the fourth match on Wednesday when they join the five-match series following their participation in the Women's Premier League. The tourists will have to wait on the fitness of Sarah Glenn, however. She failed a concussion test after hitting her head in the field and was replaced by debutant and concussion substitute Hollie Armitage.

New Zealand v England: Maia Bouchier hits 91 in fourth T20 to seal series..By Ffion Wynne, BBC Sport.England sealed a T20 series victory with a game to spare with a dominant 47-run win over New Zealand in Wellington. England's imposing 177-3 was set up by opener Maia Bouchier's stunning 91 from only 56 balls. In reply, spinner Charlie Dean took 4-26 as the hosts stumbled to 130-7 from their 20 overs. The White Ferns were left to rue a sloppy fielding performance, dropping Bouchier twice and missing a stumping. Captain Sophie Devine was unable to bat after sustaining a quad injury in the field, to further dent New Zealand's hopes of chasing the competitive total. But they should not have been chasing such a target after Izzy Gaze missed a regulation stumping with Bouchier on 31, Jess Kerr could not hold on in her follow-through when she was on 44 and substitute fielder Leigh Kasperek spilled a tough diving chance on 80. England were also gifted plenty of runs through New Zealand's substandard ground fielding, and punished their wilting bowlers for 65 runs from the last five overs. Bouchier's knock included 12 fours and two sixes, before captain Heather Knight's 21 from nine balls and Nat Sciver-Brunt's 29 from 14 balls added the late impetus from which New Zealand never recovered. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/68EE/production/_133026862_gettyimages-2116100217.jpg England outclassed New Zealand in all three aspects of the game
Player of the match Maia Bouchier on TNT Sports: "I really enjoyed myself out there. Getting the chance at the top of the order was very special for me - it's something I love doing. "I liked having the opportunity to go out and play with the intent and positivity that we are always looking for." England captain Heather Knight: "Maia was outstanding. She kept her game very simple but it was great to see and it was pleasing to finish with some momentum as well. "It's very windy here so we had to navigate those conditions and rethink a couple of tactics, but our bowlers adapted to it really well." New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "I wanted to get out there and bat, but it was a case of looking ahead to the three one-day internationals later in the series. "We were poor in the field; we didn't take our opportunities. We know it would be a different story if we took them. Maia was outstanding, but it's something we've got to put right."

New Zealand v England: Visitors win final T20 by five wickets to complete 4-1 series win..By Ffion Wynne, BBC Sport.England withstood a spirited performance from New Zealand to win the fifth T20 by five wickets and complete a 4-1 series victory. The visitors were easing towards their target of 137 with Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight's classy stand of 57. The White Ferns then fought back to dismiss both set batters in the 18th and 19th overs. But Sophia Dunkley held her nerve, hitting her second ball for four to win with seven balls to spare. Earlier, the hosts slipped to 31-4 and 69-5 after choosing to bat first, but Izzy Gaze's unbeaten 51 from 28 balls led a recovery to 136-6. Sciver-Brunt triggered the top order collapse in a hostile and disciplined opening spell with Lauren Filer, who went wicketless but troubled the inexperienced line-up with her pace and bounce. Opener Bernadine Bezuidenhout was caught behind off Sciver-Brunt in the first over, star all-rounder Amelia Kerr fell for five in the third before spinner Charlie Dean dismissed Suzie Bates for 11 to complete England's dominant powerplay. Spinner Sophie Ecclestone then ripped through the middle order with 3-30 but Gaze, 19, added 56 for the sixth wicket with Brooke Halliday and reached her maiden international half-century with a reverse-sweep for four from the final ball of the innings. The game was in the balance with England 65-3 at the halfway mark on a surface favouring the bowlers, but captain Knight's 35 and Sciver-Brunt's 31 broke the back of the chase and Dunkley calmly scored the five remaining runs following the skipper's dismissal. The white-ball series continues with three one-day internationals, starting on Sunday 31st March at the same venue. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/13E74/production/_133042518_gettyimages-2121236187.jpgIzzy Gaze faced 28 balls for her 51, hitting six fours and one six
England captain Heather Knight on TNT Sports: "I'm really pleased with how we started with the ball, we were aggressive and got those early wickets, so it was exciting to watch. "We were pleased with the chase, to keep our heads level after the third T20, and are delighted to get a series win over the line." New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr on TNT Sports: "We were disappointed with our powerplay with the bat but Izzy Gaze was just outstanding, she stuck to her game and it was really special for her. "Getting us to that score helped us add some scoreboard pressure. England are a quality side and we were in winning positions quite often but I can't fault our effort and commitment." Player of the match Nat Sciver-Brunt on TNT Sports: "It was great to get on a seamer-friendly wicket which we made the most of in the powerplay. "I'd have liked to be in with Heather at the end but it was an important partnership from us to solidify the win."

New Zealand - 207 all out (48.2 overs) Bates 50, Bezuidenhout 35, Kerr 24, Bell 3-41, Dean 3-57
England - 209-6 (41.2 overs) Jones 92 not out, Dean 42 not out, Bouchier 31, A.Kerr 2-46, J.Kerr 2-48

New Zealand v England: Amy Jones guides tourists to victory in first ODI..By Sam Drury, BBC Sport.Amy Jones hit a superb unbeaten 92 to lead England to a four-wicket win over New Zealand in the first one-day international. Needing 208 to win, the tourists slumped to 79-6 in Wellington before being rescued by a record unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 130 between Jones and Charlie Dean. Jones took the lead, playing a perfectly paced counter-attacking innings, with Dean keeping her cool in a valuable supporting knock of 42 as England got over the line with 8.4 overs to spare. Dean had earlier taken three wickets to become the fastest woman to 50 ODI scalps in only her 26th game. The off-spinner made the initial breakthrough after an opening partnership of 90 between Suzie Bates and Bernadine Bezuidenhout. Bates was dropped twice in the first seven balls of the match and was also fortunate to escape lbw and stumping shouts which would have been overturned had they been reviewed. She made the most of that good fortune to hit her 34th ODI fifty, but was stumped next ball as the White Ferns subsided to 207 all out. That looked eminently chaseable at the halfway point but England quickly found themselves in trouble and, when Danni Wyatt was bowled by Amelia Kerr in the 17th over, the visitors were six down and facing defeat. But Jones and Dean went about rectifying the situation to give Heather Knight's side a 1-0 series lead as the teams head to Hamilton for the second ODI, beginning at 23:00 BST on Wednesday. Player of the match Amy Jones on TNT Sports: "I was just trying to keep it as simple as possible and focus on one ball at a time. It sounds simple but I knew that if I did that then Deano and I would build a good partnership. "I tried to be as positive as possible and, when the ball was in my areas, back myself. Then respect the good balls when they bowled in good areas as well. "I've done a bit of work on mindset going into run-chases. It's an area I've felt I could do better in so I'm pleased that that work has paid off today." England captain Heather Knight: "I felt like we were in a really good position [at the halfway stage]. The seamers, in particular, bowled really well. "The way [Jones and Dean] soaked up pressure to build a partnership and then put the pressure back on the Kiwis was a lesson for us all." New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr: "Kate Cross bowled very well on that wicket. We didn't really have any answers to their changes of pace and variation. "We were in a position to get 250-plus, but then you look at the bowling side of things and one more wicket and maybe we could have defended 200."

New Zealand v England: Tourists seal series win with victory in second ODI..By Sam Drury, BBC Sport.Tammy Beaumont scored 81 to set England on their way to a series-clinching 56-run win over New Zealand in the second one-day international at Hamilton's Seddon Park. The opener played fluently throughout her 96-ball knock and shared a 70-run partnership with captain Heather Knight as England laid the foundations for a big total. But New Zealand hit back and, after losing 6-59, England needed a quick 48 from Amy Jones to get take them up to a competitive 252 all out. It proved to be more than enough as the White Ferns, faced with some disciplined England bowling, quickly fell behind the required rate. Brooke Halliday and Izzy Gaze gave New Zealand hope with a 100 partnership for the fifth wicket but England brought back their seamers to halt the momentum. The duo fell in quick succession and England swiftly wrapped up the victory as the home side were bowled out for 196 in the 45th over. Nat Sciver-Brunt was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 3-21. Having moved into an unassailable 2-0 series lead, Knight's side will aim to complete the clean sweep in the third ODI at the same venue on Sunday. England's Tammy Beaumont, player of the match: "The best time to bat was probably against the new ball - that's the perk of being an opener. It definitely got tougher in the middle and, at times, I couldn't work out if it was me or the wicket. "I was getting a bit frustrated but I got to 50 then tried to kick on and play catch up somewhat. My dad is probably sat at home saying it's criminal that I got out on 81 and left the team with a bit of work to do." England captain Heather Knight: "It was a really hard-fought win. The wicket was quite tricky. We potentially lost our way a bit in the middle but we know the depth and quality we have - and the way Amy played again in that partnership with Kate got us to a total we felt was defendable. "I'm really pleased with how we've gone. We've been tested which is really nice, we've been put under pressure, which is good for us as a side. We haven't played a huge amount of 50-over cricket in the past 18 months so to be put in those situations is really important." New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr: "Another tough loss but I think there was a lot of great stuff. The way Brooke and Izzy played was outstanding. Even though the scorecard doesn't look so good, I think they gave us a shot at winning that game."

New Zealand v England: Sophie Devine's century leads hosts to consolation win in ODI series..By Callum Matthews, BBC Sport.Captain Sophie Devine hit an unbeaten century to help New Zealand to a seven-wicket win over England in the final one-day international in Hamilton. England failed to adapt to a slow pitch and were bowled out for 194 in 46.3 overs, despite Amy Jones making 50. The White Ferns were 14-2 in reply but Devine (100 not out) added 76 with Amelia Kerr and 105 with Maddy Green as they won with a full 11 overs to spare. England win the ODI series 2-1, having won the preceding T20 series 4-1. They are next in action on 11th May, when they start a 3-match T20 series against Pakistan at Edgbaston. That first game will be live on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. England captain Heather Knight: "Today is a bit frustrating. We've probably not been at our best in this ODI series if we're being honest. We've struggled a little bit with tempo, particularly as a batting group, having not played a huge amount of ODIs. "It is a really good thing for us to work on as a group, particularly in the middle overs and when you're on a tricky pitch. "There is some reflection to do but overall, I am really pleased with how the tour has gone. We've made some really good learnings and got some really clear learnings that we need to work on as a group." New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "Nat Sciver-Brunt was egging me on saying I had one ball so have a crack, so it was nice to look her in the eye afterwards. "It was a really clinical job by the group. It was set up by the bowlers - it was a fantastic effort to restrict them to under 200, and then to win with that many overs to spare and wickets in hand just shows that what we're doing is on the right path." ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1B9D/production/_133096070_bbc-sport-h2h-square--f8871290-4ea9-4bb0-a31c-3340031d0f9d.png
