We have played Lincoln 48 times, W19, D, 10 & L19 - Biggest win 3-5, loss 3-6 and there has been a 3-3 draw.. Lincoln City were founded in 1884, they have played at Sincil Bank since 1895 which has a capacity of 10,669.. Lincoln are known as the Imps and hold rivalries with other Lincolnshire clubs, particularly Scunthorpe United and Grimsby Town. Manager Michael Skubala is 41 and was caretaker at Leeds before becoming head coach at LC in November 2023.. Ex Managers of note were: Bill Anderson, Harry Parkes, Colin Murphy, Graham Taylor and Danny Cowley. Lincoln are currently in 9th place and are unbeaten in their last 12 games, with BRFC in 11th. Tough encounter this what with The Imps current form, another point would be good but who know’s we may surprise ! Memorable moment at ‘ The Bank’ Stuart Campbell’s thunderbolt in the play off fixture , phew what a scorcher !

Given Lincoln's current form I can only see a big loss coming. Can't find the enthusiasm to get up at 4:00am for this one so giving it a miss. That probably means we'll get a last minute winner in a 4-3 victory UTG  |

When was the last time in football season there wasn't a league match in Bristol because of fixture allocation?
And next week will be the same.
Bristol has a Ramadan of football so best make the most of this tough tough encounter...
Although we have a trend of breaking habits, I see this as another on the beach flippy floppy sandal wearing handkerchief hat performance and aptitude....I hope I'm wrong.
All we can truly wish for is please no more injuries or discipline....I hope I'm wrong on that too.
So I'll plump for:
A comfortable, possession based defeat.
Evans corners and free kicks hitting the first defender, the shake of the head carry on, oh dear take the next one and repeat. I mean, no one else can try to take them, can they?
2-0 defeat.
A brave call to go for all travelling fans - safe travels and UptheGas!

And we all had such high hopes after a 0-0 draw against the third-from-bottom side in the division that the manager perversely hailed as progress...
The season is basically over, but we still want to see signs of progress, not this....
Said it before, and will say it again. We need 4-5 or even 6 players for next season.

Had Lewis Gordon been fit today, I expect we would have started with a back 4, which I think would have countered Lincoln's threat somewhat.

Roberto Gordon or not, this kind of defeat has been on the cards for some time. Scraping wins against Carlisle and Leyton Orient was papering over the cracks after the dismal home defeats against Fleetwood and Burton. Ideally we would be bedding in defenders for next season and creating some sort of continuity. Instead we are playing loanees who aren't very good. |

Listening to the game, it's struck me how Lincoln have started this game in a way we could only hope to do ourselves.
There was a discussion on "Having a Gas" this week about the pragmatic tactical approach being taken by Matt Taylor compared to the more "hare-um-scare-um" nature of the team under JB: the context being that Taylor has analysed that opening goals are significant in 80% of league one results and that he's working hard to get us to be "less leaky" in defence. (I write this as we're losing 3-0!)
It's certainly true that the defence under JB was, at times, all over the place - today's Lincoln game is currently reminding me very much of a few Rovers away games during his stewardship (like Exeter, for example) - but I think another point should be addressed.
"Hare-um, scare-um" or "we'll score more than you" might reasonably imply that the Gas under JB were all-out attack, playing the "gung-go" setting if it were a game of Championship Manager. However, I think that's the real issue: we were not. We did not attack teams from the off (whether home or away) and frequently had to rely on a decent array of attacking talent to get us back in games (think of the 6 - 3 home drubbing by none other than Lincoln).
Regardless of today's away performance and result, I think one of the big issues with the team - that I believe actually began under Darrell Clarke - is the lack of willingness to take the game to the opposition when we're playing at HOME. Fans become restless and we've seen time and time again how we go a goal down and then the away side simply have to sit behind the ball while we play sideways and back in front of them.
Clearly, the current Lincoln team are brimming with confidence following recent results. But, I think that's a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's only by taking a controlled attack-minded approach into games (particularly at home) that you're then likely to yield results. By controlled, I mean: press as a team and attack with pace at the right moment. Stretch the opposition back line. Confidence within the team will build and the sense of anxiety among the crowd (so palpable at times) will disperse.
I mentioned Darrell Clarke because - since the start of the 2018 / 19 season (when he was still in charge), our HOME record in League One has been:
Played: 102
Won: 33
Drawn: 26
Lost: 46
For: 123
Against: 138
Not only is our win percentage in the last five years just 30%, but we struggle to score at home - and I'm sure this is because we either can't or won't impose ourselves on the opposition from the start of matches.
Hopefully, Taylor can see this and will continue to make the necessary adjustments he feels appropriate.
