Matt Taylor’s interview after last nights game along with his admonitions to the fans immediately after, brilliantly highlight the corrosive nature of debilitating pressure on human beings. We are seeing what happens when a clown hangs a millstone around the necks of players with big mouthed aspirations without any idea of how they are going to be achieved other than continually driving these players into the ground or as we witnessed on a number of occasions the sick and degrading use of public ridicule. I would suggest that Matt’s expression of players being weak really should be the more accurate term of being broken. We too have been abused in terms of expectations beyond what is currently possible and this has led to strained relations between us and those that wear the quartered shirt. We need to be more astute in these matters, our reactions need to be ones of encouragement and recognition of what is going on and as difficult as it is refrain from jumping on the bandwagon and adding our own millstones to those these players have already been wrongly saddled with.

(Too much pressure) Too much pressure (Too much pressure) This pressure got to stop (Too much pressure) It's getting to my head (Too much pressure) They're giving me hard times!
They sang it once, they ain't wrong.
We're guilty of highering our own expectations, we tend to not need any influence in that department, but it is difficult to pull everyone in one direction when pressure rises.

Wasn’t that the selecter or the specials? I can’t rightly remember, I normally go with my first choice. Seen both, Pauline was a right moo as my friends promoted the gig. Talk about high opinion of herself

Talk about high opinion of herself I saw them in the early 80s. Think it was at the Locarno. I remember she used every combination of swear words, she could dredge up. She made Roy Chubby Brown sound like Derek Nimmo.

The specials were in a different league.

Rotunda, a snooker club that is now closed but 2 friends promoted several gigs and they packed the place out. ‘Yes, she was not impressive with her onstage stuff plus her rider was ridiculous and she was close to not performing because one item was not as she wished it to be

It could be that way. If you were not a local I can see how it could have felt
