Can we make this a one way ticket please? I thought Gordon was a positive for us. Gibbons for me was just another of Barton's crocks. But, good luck to him.

Gordon I liked because I thought he had more potential than his run, stop, cut inside backwards and sideways passing....but it appears not. Steady, but that's what you get. No going outside his opponent, no running past to create triangles and space, no real pace. Decent, but outjumped on set pieces and we can do better. Gibbons I never saw anything in tbh, I can't recall anything he done apart from score in both nets get himself sent off and definitely hand ball one away match that wasn't picked up. A liability in defence. Couldn't play wb on either side and I think we were sold a dummy.

Suspect he is a solid full back but not a wingback which we have favoured in his time here. Think there is a good player in there but just hasn’t worked out for him here

Never really settled into the side in the style of a Lescott and always seemed to be on the periphery. Hunt on a one-year deal, and then gradually try to reintegrate Hoole after his return from FGR. Less than funky Gibbons back to Port Vale and his army of admirers...that's the RB position sorted.

Gordon was routinely called out for being a weak link by our fans. I think JB was minded to persevere with him in the hope that he improved before running out of patience and reaching for the tried-and-tested Friend. LB has always been a weakness for us, for some reason...Scott Jones, Chris Carruthers and Gary Sawyer are not the stuff that full-back dreams are made of. Was Challis our last decent one?

Sick note Gibbons is the latest in a line of farts that don’t seem able to cope with the rigours of professional football. Rodman was another that would be out for months following an unexpectedly serious encounter with anything greater than a gentle breeze. These types occupy spaces in the squad that could be filled with ‘ men’ that would be available for the fight rather than hiding in the treatment room.

I guess that , sometimes, it is just not a good nor wise thing to move. I do wish him all the best though and hope he doesn’t just disappear, like so many do.
