Rumours that Sheff Weds are showing interest in Connor Taylor. A major loss if he goes but probably one of a few of our players worth close to the ÂŁ1M mark. Pleased that this rumour appears to have been BS making it an 'OK' transfer window in my view although, given our current reliance on loan players, there's a lot of rebuilding work for MT to do in the northern hemisphere summer.

Our three new loan players profiles.
BRANDON AGUILERA ZAMORA Born 28.6.2003 Naranjo de Alajuela, Costa Rica 5’ 10” ; 10 st 2 lbs Midfielder
Career: 2018 Carmelita [4,1]; 2019 Alajuelense (ÂŁ75,000) [40,1]; 2021 Guanacasteca (loan); 17.7.22 Nottingham Forest (ÂŁ950,000) [0+1,0]; 18.7.22 Guanacasteca (loan) [28,4]; 31.1.23 Estoril (loan); 1.2.24 Bristol Rovers (loan).
Exciting Costa Rican midfielder Brandon Aguilera joined Rovers ahead of the transfer deadline in February 2024. Having represented his country once at Under-15 level and four times each at Under-17 and Under-20 level, he was the holder of eight full caps. Following an international bow in the 2-0 victory over the United States in March 2022, he had played as a teenager at the 2022 World Cup Finals, appearing as a substitute against both Spain and Japan and starting against Germany, as his country made a spirited group exit. Having helped Alajuelense to the Liga FPD title in 2020, he had joined Forest in 2022, representing his club in both the League Cup and the FA Cup and playing the final four minutes of a defeat at Brentford in the Premier League in January 2024.
ELKAN WILLIAM TIO BAGGOTT Born 23.10.2002 Bangkok, Thailand 6’ 5”; 13 st 8 lbs Central Defender
Career: British International School, Jakarta; Soccer Schools International Jakarta; 2016 Ipswich Town (professional, 1.10.20) [2,0]; 22.3.21 King’s Lynn Town (loan); 8.7.22 Gillingham (loan) [17+2,2]; 1.2.23 Cheltenham Town (loan) [1,0]; 1.2.24 Bristol Rovers (loan).
Having played against The Gas in the League Cup in August 2023, Indonesian international defender Elkan Baggott joined Matt Taylor’s Rovers on loan later that campaign. Brought up in Jakarta to a mother with Indonesian nationalty and an English father, Roland Baggott, he had captained his school side before moving to the UK in 2011. Baggott made his League Cup début in October 2020, marking John Akinde as Ipswich played Gillingham. He was both the first Indonesian to appear in the League (against Rotherham United in April 2022) and the first to score (in Gillingham’s 1-1 draw with Stevenage six months later). Left-footed, tall and mobile, he also scored for the Gills against Barrow, in the FA Cup against Dagenham and for Ipswich, a consolation goal against Fulham in a League Cup-tie, as well as playing seven times in the National League with King’s Lynn Town and once in League One, when Cheltenham lost 4-0 at home to Barnsley in February 2023. An Instagram favourite, with over 50,000 followers, Elkan Baggott won the first of two Under-19 caps with Indonesia against North Macedonia in October 2020 and, alongside two caps for the Under-21 side and a goal, the sixth as Chinese Taipei were put to the sword 9-0 in September 2023, he won the first of 24 full caps in November 2021 against Afghanistan. He was to score a header against Malaysia in December 2021 and another goal as Nepal were defeated 7-0 six months later, as well as playing against world champions Argentina in June 2023. Just days before arriving at The Mem, he was in Qatar for the Asian Cup, conceding a twelfth-minute own goal in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Australia.
HARRY PATRICK VAUGHAN Born 6.4.2004 Trafford 5’ 9”; 11 st 3 lbs Midfielder
Career: Oldham Athletic (professional, 23.2.21) [7+26,1]; 14.12.22 Radcliffe (loan); 31.1.23 Hull City (free) [6+7,0]; 1.2.24 Bristol Rovers (loan).
Quick, exciting prospect Harry Vaughan was a surprise loan signing on Transfer Deadline Day in February 2024. His early potential had been spotten in a wonder goal in November 2020 for Oldham’s youth side against Lincoln City. Having first appeared for Oldham as a sixteen-year-old against Barrow in February 2021, he scored a consolation goal at Harrogate that October and, two months later, also scored in the League Cup at Sunderland. Following four Northern Premier League matches with Radcliffe, he made his Hull City bow at Blackburn Rovers in April 2023. Through his maternal Irish heritage, he won eight full caps for the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level, the first cap coming in a 2-2 draw with Sweden in Marbella in October 2021, and he was called up to the Irish Under-21 squad in June 2023. Loan players, just one of the few reasons that for this current season i did not renew my many years held season ticket. Lots of clubs are following the loan route now, largely due to the size of premiership squads and players filtering down. Argyle got promoted and are doing ok.

Bit weird seeing these mock-ups of the new loanees in Rovers kit. Is this actually Harry Vaughan in action for Hull, with Rovers' colours painted over the top? Or Harry's head stuck on top of someone in action for Rovers, like Luke McCormick? Or his head stuck on some completely random AI created image? http://instagram.com/p/C20oTNCNAmn

Of all the loans we've had over the years, how many have actually turned out to be out-and-out successes?
Its meaningless to say they come with a high reputation, because we've had past experience of the likes of Charlie Colkett, who was supposed to be the next thing, and who is now being loaned out by Crewe in L2.
In terms of successful loans, I can think of Dennis Bailey, Elliot Andersen and Craig Armstrong, a ginger left-back from Notts Forest. Can't think of any others.
Trollope was sceptical about loans, and I can see why. I don't think it benefits us in the long-term and more generally it is contributing to lower league clubs (even championship clubs) effectively becoming feeder clubs for the PL.

Connor Taylor? Beefy was OK for a while. Vale has been decent. Crama has been decent. Bogarde OK. Gibson ok. Coburn ok. Just off the top of my head.
Yes not all progress to full signings and not all work out so well but I think better than the picture you paint. Agree though would prefer growing/signing our own but loans do allow you to try before you buy

Jamie only retired in October last year at the age of 48, has played 1,070 games, scoring 389 goals for 20 various clubs, played at England U18 level... BRFC stats: Played 198 games, scoring 79 goals when we were in the old 2nd division...

He was still on the books at Enfield before they had financial problems and let all the 'high'earners go. Currently at Maldon & Tiptree (tier 8) and planning a visit in the next month or so.
